More tapes from Richard Nixon were released to the public and liberals immediately pounced.  We are once again being reminded of the evil Tricky Dicky.  But the reality is that these tapes show something very different.  The whole Watergate thing was a pathetic joke.  Some clowns, loosely connected with Nixon’s re-election campaign tried to plant wire taps at the Democratic National Committee.   To quote Hillary Clinton:  “what differences does it make?”  They got caught.  It was an idiotic plan which involved high risk for little or no reward.

What struck me was how minor the Watergate incident was in the scheme of things.  Suppose someone from Barack Obama’s campaign had got caught planting wiretaps in the Republican National Committee headquarters.  No one in the main stream media would bother to investigate.  If a House Republican committee dared ask questions about it the liberal media would howl with scorn and indignation.  It would probably be labeled as another racist attack.

It should have ended there.  The real story of Watergate is not the third rate unsuccessful burglary, it is the malicious prosecution of a President by partisan political opponents.  In the end, Nixon became even more paranoid and started viewing the main stream media and liberal democrats as enemies.  He was right about that.  Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t actually out to get you.  It is no surprise that Richard Nixon, who was under seige, developed a seige mentality.  Nixon brought about his own demise, but in some ways this is similar to an individual who is bulled into committing suicide.  Yes, the person who committs suicide is primarily to blame, but at least part of the blame belongs to those who pushed that person to the brink.

In 1968, I was a crewmember flying combat missions in South East Asia.  It was a very bad year.  There were wide spread protests and the President of the United States, Lyndon Johnson seemed determined to lose the war he personally started by lying to the American people.  When Richard Nixon was elected it was like a breath of fresh air.  He immediately restored a sense of purpose and he miraculously managed to keep his promise of “peace with honor.”  The United States won that war.  When Nixon ordered B52 raides over North Vietnam they folded like a cheap umbrella.  They signed a peace treaty and sent our POWs home.  I don’t believe the North Vietnamese would have ever risked violating that treaty with Richard Nixon still in the Oval Office.  If Richard Nixon had remained in office, South Vietnam today might look like South Korea and 3 million Cambodians might still be alive.

The liberal left with the wild support from the main stream media was successful in destroying Richard Nixon.  He contributed greatly to his own demise.  But in the end, they removed one of the most effective President’s in our nation’s history.  Even liberals are astonished by his real accomplishments.  The removal of Richard Nixon from office, resulted in a humiliating defeat in Vietnam.  The Democratic congress cut off all funds and blocked every attempt by Gerald Ford to aid South Vietnam.  They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  In doing so, they threw the sacrifices made by so many to achieve that victory on the scrap heat of history.

God Bless the memory of Richard Nixon. For me he is and always will be the man who brought me home.

A final note:  Democrats know that the Watergate Burglary and the cover-up of that burglary failed to reach the level necessary to justify the impeachement of a President.  So they are focused primarily on the so-called enemies list and the absuse of power.  What actually happenned is that John Dean brought a list of 200 Democrats he thought worthy of special attention to the IRS.  Treasury Secretary George Schultz basically laughed at him, told his staff to ignore the request and locked the list up in a safe.  There is no evidence that a single Democrat was actually targeted by the IRS because of Richard Nixon.

In August of 2010, Austian Goolsbee, who was serving as economic advisor to President obama, told reporters that Koch industries doesn’t pay corporate income taxes.  President Obama himself was publicly demonizing Charles and David Koch, the owners of Koch Industries for giving money to Tea Party groups.   Mark Holden, an attorney for Koch Industries, disputed that claim and asked him if someone in the Obama administraiton had looked at the Koch Brothers tax return.

Just recently IRS Inspector General J. Russell George said in a letter to Republican Sentaor Grassely that his office found four cases where confidential tax records of political donors or candidates for office since 2006, and at least one case of “willful unauthorized access” since 2006.  He still refused to identify the people who were targeted:

So far, no one in the main stream media seems overly concerned.

All of us are watching the news out of Egypt with more than a little shock.  It is long past time to tell the truth about what is happening there.  The United States was successful in undermining the Mubarak regime to the extent that it eventually was removed from power.  This is remarkably similar to how we undermined the Shah of Iran.  How did that work out?  Are the people in Iran better off now than when the Shah was in power?  The theory was that Mubarak was too dictatorial.  Every time there was a demonstration, the Obama administration warned the Egyptian military and police to show restraint.  They did.  We are now watching the results on our television screens.

There are no good guys in Egypt, but there are definitely bad guys.  The Muslim Brotherhood will turn Egypt back into a fundamentalist Islamic state, if given the chance.  They already tried to do exactly that after the last election.  No one should be disillusioned about the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood.  Following is an English translation of their motto:

 “Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”

The Egyptian military is not above reproach, but it is a lot better than the alternative.  The reason Mubarak ruled under emergency law for all those years was that the Muslim Brotherhood assassinated Anwar Sadat.  He knew that if he did not suppress the Muslim Brotherhood, they would do never stop until they gained complete control.  Always remember that the Muslim Brotherhood was the father of al Qaeda. 

Suppose we had an extremist group operating in the United States.  They wanted to force everyone to adopt their world view.  They wanted to force everyone to adopt their religious views.  They organized violent mobs.  They rigged elections to put candidates favorable to them in charge.  When they were charged with crimes, crooked judges and biased juries acquitted them without regard to the evidence.  They often tortured and killed those they opposed.  How would we respond to that?  We already know the answer, because that is exactly what the Ku Klux Klan did.  This happened more than once.  Every time it happened, they were only stopped when the government went to war with them, hunted them down and shut them down.  We could not tolerate the Ku Klux Klan, because tolerating them is incompatible with Democracy.  We didn’t solve the problem of the Ku Klux Klan by giving them a seat at the table of power.  That would have been absurd!  Sometimes the only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good people to refuse to take sides.

The Muslim Brotherhood is the Islamic version of the Ku Klux Klan on steroids.  They are not interested in democracy, they don’t believe in democracy.  They aren’t interested in religious tolerance, they don’t believe in religious tolerance.  They have already demonstrated many times that they will do anything and everything to gain power.  We are talking about a group that has a history of assassinating political opponents.  There is no possibility of real democracy in Egypt if the Muslim Brotherhood is part of the equation.

Unfortunately President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and RINO republicans like John McCain and Lindsay Graham are enabling the Muslim Brotherhood.  The worst possible way to handle this mess is to give the Muslim Brotherhood a preferred seat at the table of power.  Yet that is exactly what the U.S. is demanding.  It is absurd.  The fastest way to end the violence is Egypt is to allow the Egyptian military to, once again, suppress the Muslim Brotherhood.  The good news is that the Egyptian military appears ready to do exactly that.

There are signs that the Arab world, led by Saudi Arabia, is uniting behind the Egyptian Military.  Perhaps we should pay attention.  Russia is ready, willing and able to step into the leadership vacuum.  If we do not give the Egyptian military what it needs, it will obtain it from Russia.  The United States spent years maneuvering Egypt away from a strong Soviet ally under Nasser to our best friend in the Middle East.  I fail to see how letting Russia regain influence in Egypt would possibly benefit the United States or anyone else.

The astonishing thing to me is accurate that turned out to be, since I am hardly an expert on Egypt.  I have never been there and only know a handful of people who went there briefly on vacation.  Everything I wrote about in January 2011 was based on information readily available on the internet or the nightly news.  This is not because I did brilliant research, I didn’t.  It is because this was and is really obvious.  Unfortunately, it is not obvious to those who are responsible for making decisions on our behalf.

A lot of people are upset at the prospect of two Hillary Clinton mini-series.  Republicans are naturally annoyed at the blatant attempt by CNN and NBC to provide priceless advertising for the Hillary Presidential brand.  However, upon further review, I am not all that sure that this is a good development for Hillary.  For one thing, she doesn’t actually need any more name recognition.  She is certainly the most recognized female politician in America and possibly the world.  Hillary is a very polarizing figure and those people who already despise her will not change their mind because of a TV show.  But the real problem is that in order for the mini-series to draw any viewers, it must have some zing.  In the case of Hillary there are no real accomplishments, so the zing is going to come from the controversies.

Keep in mind that this is as favorable to Hillary as possible.  Yet it also included the Whitewater scandal and the Monica Lewinsky affair.  The bottom line is that the truth about Hillary is pretty boring stuff with no real accomplishments.  Only the scandals are interesting.  None of the items in this resume will make for a very interesting plot.  What are they going to do?  Have Hillary agonize over whether to stay with Bill after the Lewinsky affair?  Her Senate race in New York was a cake walk.  First, Daniel Moynihan resigned, so it was an open Democratic seat in a Democratic state.  Second, the Democratic nomination was handed to her on a platter.  Third, Rudy Giuliani had to drop out, so she ended up competing against Rick Lazio.  Remember Rick Lazio…I didn’t think so.  This is hardly the makings of a come from behind God Bless America story.  She lost the 2008 campaign to a candidate with the thinnest resume in the History of Presidential politics.

Currently the main stream media is spinning the myth of Hillary Clinton the political superstar.  It may be impossible to come up with the script for a mini-series that can live up to the hype.  If they ignore the controversies they will have a problem and if they cover the controversies, Hillary will have a problem.

Think about this.  Huma Abedin stood next to the Weiner as the good wife standing by her man.  She even said she was following Hillary’s example.  The problem is that even liberal women are sick of the good wife standing there smiling next to her scumbag husband.  That sends all the wrong signals.  That may help the husband, but it hardly makes the woman look good.  I will be surprised if the mini-series even happen.  If they do happen, I don’t expect them to do much for Hillary and they have the potential to puncture the myth of Hillary the great. 

In the meantime Reince Preibus has brilliants boxed CNN, NBA and the Hillary Express into a corner.  He has threatened to boycott both networks during the 2016 election if they proceed with these mini-series on Hillary.  If the series are cancelled, he wins.  If they are still produced and they are overly favorable to Hillary, he wins.  That means if the mini-series are produced they will have to include the controversies.  If that happens, he also wins.

The other point is that Hillary is peaking too soon.  The next election is in 2016.  It means nothing to be the favorite in 2013 for an election to be held three years later.  In 2005, most political pundits thought that Hillary was a shoe-in for the 2008 Democratic nomination.  How did that work out?  No one was predicting Barack Obama as next President.  In 2005 no one thought John McCain would be the Republican nominee.  As late as the fall of 2007, it looked like McCain was done as a candidate.  The only thing certain about predictions for an election more than three years away is that all predictions are predictably wrong.

Several years ago I was invited to attend a “Golden Gloves” competition as a spectator.  I was reluctant to go, because I am not a big fan of boxing and I expected mediocre performers.  I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was a lot of fun.  What made it interesting is that fighters would participate in several bouts trying to get into the finals.  We became familiar with some of the guys and watched their careers develop, or not develop, over the course of the day.  One guy, we nicknamed “Slick” was dressed to the hilt.  He had a colorful shirt that matched his shorts and even had matching tassels on his shoes.  He danced around the ring, obviously considering himself to be the next Mohammed Ali. He looked unbeatable.   In same same division was a big Polish kid with zero boxing skills.  He could barely move and he had no clue how to defend himself.  he would just wade into the punches, with his head turned sideways to deflect the blows.  Then, when he got close to the other guy he would pummel his opponent with wild roundhouse punches.   Even a near miss was terrifying.  If he accidentallly hit someone, they went down and stayed down.  We called him “Stash.”  Stash and Slick met in the semi-finals.  At first Slick came out with an attitude.  He was dancing, jawing and jabbing.  Then Stash hit him.  All of a suddent Slick realized that he could get hurt.  The attitude disappeared and Slick became very anxious to just survive the bout.  He was running backward around the ring, as fast as he could go, while Stash stalked him like a clumsy but crazed serial killer.  It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.  Unfortunately it reminds me of the Obama administration response to the latest incident in the war on terror.

The Associate Press is reporting that the decision to issue the terror warning and shut down our embassies was based on an intercept of a message from ak-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahri.  The following report is from the telegraph UK:

If this is accurate, releasing this information will do grave harm to national security.  Al-Qaida was able to bring this country to its knees without firing a shot.  Al-Qaida obviously learned an important lesson from Benghazi.  They learned that this President is weak and that the United States has become an easy target.  The following article from McClatchy explains how security experts are viewing this action:

This sure looks like another TSA solution.  Rather than going after the guys who really matter, the TSA is groping young girls and grandmothers while ignoring the Muslim looking male muttering allahu akbar.  Now, Obama shut down all our embassies and went on vacation.  By taking this action he probably thinks he avoids blame if there is another attack.  In the meantime we are providing our enemies with a copy of our play book that they will almost certainly use to attack us in the future.

I can’t help reflecting on a famouse line from Franklin Delano Roosevelts first inaugaral address.  He said that the “Only Thing we Have to Fear is Fear itself.”  Well welcome to “Fear Itself.”

The Watergate Scandal started with a third rate burglary that did not matter.  Richard Nixon did not even know about this when it happened.  It was a dumb idea by some of his staff.  It was also unnecessary, because he was coasting to re-election.  What made the difference is that two Washington Post Reporters decided it was important.  They dedicated their lives to following the rabbit trails.  Eventually, the rest of the media and finally congress jumped on the bandwagon.

Up until now Benghazi has not been a big story, because the primary people covering it worked for Fox News.  What they discovered was important, but it was ignored by the rest of the media.  Many segments of the main stream media refuse to acknowledge that Fox News exists and they ignore any story if it breaks on Fox News.  But now CNN is running reports on Benghazi and that is going to change everything:

The latest theory is that this was a CIA gun running operation.  That rumor has been out there on the web for a long time, but even Fox News has avoided reporting it.  The Republicans in congress have avoided investigating this.  Perhaps part of that is reluctance on the part of conservatives and Republicans to damage national security.  Regardless of the merits of this particular operation, responsible people know that the restraints on the CIA by the Church committee did great damage to our national security.

Much of the criticism of the CIA was justified.  But the restraints on the CIA may have resulted in 9-11.  Under the Kennedy administration, they were running bizarre plots to assassinate Fidel Castro.  It is ironic to note that it is another Democratic President, Barack Obama, who is once again using the CIA to assassinate people with drones.

If we had a congress we could trust, they should handle these problems in closed session.  But no one in either political party trusts this congress to do that.

The liberal left, on the other hand, loves to expose the CIA, without regard to national security implications.  This story is about to go nuclear.  To some extent, it doesn’t even matter whether or not CNN is right about the gun running.  What matters is that they have decided that Benghazi is an important story and they have verified the cover-up.  The rest of the main stream media will have to cover this story.  They cannot afford to ignore a major story and there is no story bigger than a Presidential cover-up.  When you combine this with recent stories linking the IRS scandal to the White House, this is a perfect political storm.

The phony scandal strategy evaporated.  This CNN report can hardly be dismissed as some nefarious plot by the vast right wing conspiracy.

…But if CNN’s report is correct, the CIA is at minimum trying to hide something huge from Congress, something that CIA agents might otherwise want to reveal — itself a reason for Congress to press hard for information. And if speculation about moving weapons is grounded in anything substantive, that would be an additional reason to investigate what the CIA is doing in Libya. Dozens of CIA agents were apparently on the ground in Benghazi, Libya last September.

This story has escalated to the point where both liberals and conservatives are equally concerned.  Conservatives were concerned about an administration that covered up its own incompetence with deliberate lies and falsehoods.  Liberals are shocked to discover that this administration is also running covert ops.  Regardless of the motivation, this is a story that has real legs.

This reminds me of an old Arabian proverb:

“If the camel once gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow.”

CNN is the camel’s nose and the rest of the media will be there shortly.

So a woman raised by devote Muslim parents in Saudi Arabia decides to marry an ugly, perverted Jewish man from Brooklyn.  Sounds like love at first sight to me.

If you do the slightest research on Huma Abedin it is obvious that the main stream media has blissfully ignored her Muslim extremist connections.  This was always the elephant in the room that none dare discuss.  Andrew McCarthy has been reporting on this for years, and the main stream media has been ignoring it for years:

The lifestyle problems for Hillary are obvious.  When you combine this with Huma Abedin having close family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood it was a nightmare.  The obvious solution was to prove that Huma Abedin was not a lesbian and to also prove that she was not a Muslim extremist.  She desperately needed to find a husband.  She also needed to quell the questions about her Muslim background and her family’s connections with the Muslim Brotherhood. 

Enter Anthony Weiner.  He is 44 years old, ugly as sin with some obvious personal issues.  He is a lightweight Democratic congressman from a safe New York district who dreams about becoming Mayor.  By marrying Huma Abedin, the world drops in his lap.  He gets an extremely well-connected wife who won’t be offended by his “proclivities.”  He gets access to the Clinton fund raising machine.  Most importantly the Clintons would “owe” him big time.  Why, if he played his cards right, he could even run for Mayor of New York.

He also gets money, lots of money.  Someone generously donated a wedding that appears to have cost close to $250,000.  Neither Anthony Weiner nor Huma Abedin could afford this.  Someone paid for this wedding, but neither of them bothered to report this on their tax returns.  Bill Clinton officiated at the event.  I guess that makes sense when comparing the Clinton marriage of convenience with the Weiner marriage of convenience.

Now it turns out Huma Abedin is drawing her salary from the State Department while making huge bucks on the side doing consulting work for fat cat Democrats.  Perhaps Huma Abedin was planning on a major role in the next Clinton administration.

It almost worked.  With the Clinton money, and the lack of a viable opponent, Weiner probably would have been elected Mayor of New York.  But Anthony Weiner simply could not control himself.  Sending nude pictures on a cell phone is not just morally offensive, it is stupid.  It is the kind of thing done by someone who is lonely and desperate.  It is not done by someone with a happy and satisfying marriage.

Have you ever wondered about something?  Why would Huma Abedin’s family tolerate her marriage to someone like Anthony Weiner?  Anthony Weiner is a vocal pro-Israel guy.  The last time I heard the Muslim Brotherhood was not all that pro-Israel.  Devote Muslim families are seldom tolerant of their daughters marrying out of the faith.  They are particularly unlikely to accept marriage to a Jewish man.  One must assume that they approved of this situation.  One wonders why?  It certainly isn’t because of admiration for Anthony Weiner.

Huma Abedin dared to compare herself to Hillary and to compare Anthony Weiner to Bill Clinton.  Neither of these egos could possibly tolerate the insult.  This is the way the Clintons treat everyone.  You are expected to be their best friend, but you are never to consider yourself remotely equal.

A lot of people are warning Huma and Tony about Bill and Hillary.  But, I wonder if anyone is warning Bill and Hillary about Huma and Tony.  Granted, they are not in the same league as the Clintons, but Huma knows EVERYTHING.  Their world is collapsing around them and a cornered animal is the most dangerous creature on earth.  I sometime wonder who Huma Abedin will despise more:  Anthony Weiner or Hillary Clinton.  This is already ugly and we’ve only just begun.

We recently observed the 150^th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.  Perhaps this is a good time to consider what really happened there.  Most people are more than aware that the Union won the battle and that it was a devastating defeat for the Confederacy.  But not everyone is aware of how this happened.  The union forces were entrenched on high ground.  Prior to this battle and in most subsequent battles, the Confederate Army always tried to gain the high ground and force the Union to attack.  But at Gettysburg Robert E. Lee didn’t know where the Union forces were until it was too late.  Jeb Stuart had been on a joy ride around the entire Union army, so he wasn’t available to provide intelligence.  Robert E. Lee knew the ground was terrible for the Confederacy, but he decided he could beat the Union anyway.  He believed that if he could defeat the Union Army  here, he could win the war.  So he ordered a series of attacks against Union troops dug in on higher ground.  The results were predictable and disastrous.  Then he ordered one last desperate assault on the center of the Union lines.  That is now known as Pickett’s Charge.  It was one of the greatest military disasters of all time.

The liberal left is used to fighting battles on ground of its own choosing.  They have never had to fight a battle on bad ground.  They always pick on polarizing public figures.  They focus on cases where outrage is inevitable, as in the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.  And they always get cover from the main stream media.  But this time they made a mistake.  They went all in on the Zimmerman case without bothering to find out the facts.  This time they picked the wrong case, the wrong man and the wrong attorneys.

They thought they would get away with this because the main stream media would continue to provide cover.  That is exactly what did happen, but there was a very public trial and the false narrative of the angry white man with a gun evaporated under an onslaught of inconvenient facts.  George Zimmerman was found not guilty and there is no chance any court will put him on trial again. 

Trayvon Martin’s parents are on national television asking Barack Obama to go through the case with a fine tooth comb.  President Obama’s shameless pandering has put him between a rock and a hard place.  If he has any competent advisors, they will tell him to stay away from this case like the plague.  If someone competent does pour over this case, they will discover the following:

The original police chief refused to bring charges.  That decision has been vindicated.

The original prosecutor refused to bring charges.  That decision has been vindicated.

Angela Corey, the hired gun brought in by Governor Scott to prosecute George Zimmerman bypassed the Grand Jury process and got an indictment by submitting an affidavit directly to the hand-picked judge.   This affidavit failed to include the photographs of the injuries to Zimmerman.

Her actions were repudiated by the jury when they found Zimmerman not guilty.  They were also harshly criticized by Allan Dershowitz more than a year ago:

The problem for the liberal left is that Zimmerman won his case and now he can sue those who falsely accused him.

It is possible that Angela Corey will be sued for malicious prosecution.  Zimmerman will have a heck of a case.  Just imagine calling Alan Dershowitz, a liberal law professor at Harvard who just happens to be a real constitutional lawyer, to testify as an expert witness.  If you are an attorney trying to defend Angela Corey you are already starting to sweat.

NBC will probably attempt to settle this.  That may not be an option.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson may also get sued for slander and defamation of character.  They will be shocked to learn that Zimmerman has a case.  They will be even more shocked to learn that their personal assets are at risk.  They will be absolutely stunned to learn that they can be called to testify under oath in a court of law and that they cannot plead the 5^th.  At some point an attorney is going to explain to both of them that this is a case they probably cannot win. 

It is important to remember that Zimmerman was a private citizen and he has an expectation of privacy.  Unlike someone such as Sarah Palin, George Zimmerman can sue these clowns.

I also expect Zimmerman to sue the prosecutors, particularly the one who called him a murderer on national TV, after the verdict was confirmed.  That prosecutor is also likely to have a very troubling meeting with his legal counsel.

Zimmerman could even file a claim against Trayvon Martin’s parents for his injuries.  Trayvon Martin was a minor, and they are responsible for him.  I don’t think he will do that, but if  Trayvon Martin’s parents are foolish enough to sue Zimmerman, his attorneys have the option to counter sue.  Even if they don’t do that, Trayvon Martin’s cell phone records will definitely be entered into evidence.  This will not be another three-ring media circus where the media ignores one of the rings. 

Eric Holder is pretending to investigate this.  He has already ordered a seizure of the evidence.  He is on dangerous grounds.  This is interjecting himself into a case where he is likely to end up with no good options.  He just may have pandered himself into the ultimate corner.  If he does not try to pursue charges he will outrage the outraged.  If he does try to pursue charges, in the face of overwhelming evidence, it will now be at personal risk.

Holder is using the Zimmerman case to try and get rid of the “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida.  But he ought to do a little research because it turns out that a lot of black people use this law when they are forced to defend themselves.  The following article in the Daily Caller points this out:

I predict that this is going to be painfully embarrassing for a lot of people.  This may happen sooner than you can imagine.  It may change things faster than you thought possible. Forget the rhetoric and look at the facts.  This time the good guys have the high ground and if the liberal left keeps launching ill advised assaults they are going to incur major casualties.

At some point, the rest of the main stream media may even start turning on sacrificial lambs in a desperate attempt to save the franchise.  As John Kennedy once said, “Defeat is an orphan.”  There will soon be a lot of orphans.

The travesty of the George Zimmerman trial continues.  A jury found George Zimmerman not guilty and every objective legal analyst agrees that this was the proper verdict.  But the liberal left is determined to continue trying the case in the vain hope for a different result.  As soon as the trial ended, the prosecutors held a news conference where they tried to explain why they were still right.  Usually when people suffer a humiliating defeat they back off for a couple of seconds before stepping into another pile of crap.

There is still a large media contingent, fueled by people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, determined to find a way to punish George Zimmerman.  The narrative remains that this innocent, young black kid was hunted down and shot with a gun by an angry white guy.  One would think from the rhetoric that this was a daily problem in America.  The reality is that the only reason this case is receiving such widespread media attention is that it is an extremely rare occurrence.  The liberal left is so desperate to find a case that they brought up Emmett Till.  Emmitt Till was a black kid who was killed in Mississippi in 1955 for daring to flirt with a white girl.  If they had more recent examples, they would be using them.  The reality is that young black kids get shot and killed all the time, but it is almost always by other black kids. 

The media desperately wanted to find an angry white man with a gun.  At first they wanted to paint Zimmerman as an angry white racist.  Zimmerman turned out, inconveniently, to have a mother from Peru, so they called him a White Hispanic. 

The angry white man theory was shattered by the evidence in the trial.  It was also debunked by an FBI investigation into the matter.  But there are still some media outlets pretending this is true.  Now they are focused on the theory that George Zimmerman must have been guilty of something.  This, of course, is based on the false narrative that Trayvon Martin was just some innocent black kid on his way to get candy.

The judge did not allow any evidence with regard to Trayvon Martin’s personal history to be entered into evidence at trial. That was potentially appropriate because this trial was about whether or not George Zimmerman acted in self-defense.   But now that the trial is over, it is important to tell the full truth about this incident.  This is most unfortunate, because the death of this young man is a tragedy.  His parents do not need his name dragged through the mud.  They should be allowed their privacy and we must not ignore their personal pain.  The best solution would have been to just leave things alone.   But when there are wild-eyed people trying to inflame passions based on a false narrative, simple justice requires one to respond with the truth.

Eric Holder is even considering whether or not to try George Zimmerman for violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights.  This goes back to the Mississippi Burning trial where clearly guilty people were acquitted by an all-white jury who ignored the facts.  It does not apply when a jury properly reviewed the facts and decided that Zimmerman was not guilty.

There is much more.  Frankly, this version of events makes a lot more sense than the case presented by the prosecutors.  That is probably one reason why Zimmerman was found not guilty.

Trayvon Martin was found with Arizona Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail and Skittles.  Neither package had been opened.    When the prosecutor showed the jury the bottle, he was careful to turn the label so that they couldn’t see “Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail.”  This was not necessarily because of the “racist” implication of “watermelon.”   There is a street drug called “purple lean” or “purple drank” that is made from:  “Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail (other soft drinks like Sprite can be used, but not ice tea), Skittles and Robitussen.  Some of the texts from Trayvon Martin’s phone make reference to this drug.  His autopsy showed some signs of liver damage that may or may not be related to abuse of a drug like “purple lean.”  So there is a legitimate question as to whether Trayvon Martin was out to get candy, or he was out to get the key ingredients to get stoned.  

We do know that he had trace levels of marijuana in his system when he was shot.  We also know that if he had walked straight home from the 7-11 he probably wouldn’t have encountered George Zimmerman.  Zimmerman describes him as walking between houses looking into windows.  Recall that it was raining at the time.  Zimmerman didn’t start following Trayvon Martin because he was black and because he was wearing a hoodie.   He followed him because it looked like he was casing homes.

The phone records from Trayvon Martin show an angry young man with serious problems.  There are numerous references to fights and suspensions.  He had been kicked out of his mother’s home.  He was asking people for help in getting a gun.  None of this evidence was given to the jury.  None of this information was reported on TV, then or now.  As a result, we have people rioting all over the U.S. based on a totally false narrative.  It is probably too late to stop the violence.  There are already reports of Hispanics being beaten up by black gangs.  But the problem is that the media continues to promote a false narrative and no one is willing to tell the truth.  It is not politically correct to tell the truth about Trayvon Martin, but it is criminally negligent to inflame people to riot based on a false narrative.

But most importantly, we do not honor the memory of Trayvon Martin by distorting the facts.  The sad reality is that other Trayvon Martins are dying every day.  The death of young black boys is a national tragedy.  We don’t have to go back to 1955 to find another example of this problem.  It happens every day.  Larry Elder does an outstanding job of explaining the problem:

The real tragedy of this case is that while people are rioting, because of a false narrative, more black kids are dying because we are ignoring the real problem.  This is the worst thing that could happen.  It not only will not help solve the problem, it will make it worse.  The problem is not angry white men with guns.   It is angry black men, or boys, with guns, knives, sticks or whatever else works.

I recently had a lengthy and enlightening conversation with a very successful black business man.  He grew up in the Black Panther mode and blamed all the world’s problems on whitey.  He eventually self-destructed.  He turned his life around when another black man confronted him with the ugly truth.  This real friend even made him a note and put it on his bathroom mirror.  It said:  “You are looking at the problem.”  Once this guy acknowledged the truth, he was able to change. 

There are some very good black men, like Larry Elder and Juan Williams, who understand this.  If we really want to honor the memory of Trayvon Martin, we should start by listening to them.  In the meantime, we must fight back against those who continue to distort the facts in this case.  There is no excuse for those who cannot or will not tell the truth, particularly when the results are wide spread carnage that helps no one and solves nothing.

This is a time when the Attorney General of the United States, who happens to be black, could be a positive influence on this.  Instead, he continues to pour fuel on the flames of outrage:

Incredibly, he blamed this on the Florida “Stand Your Ground” statue which was not even an issue in this case:

Those laws “try to fix something that was never broken” and “senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods,” he said.

“By allowing — and perhaps encouraging — violent situations to escalate in public, such laws undermine public safety,” Holder said in his first public comment on legislation that more than 30 states have passed in some form.

The main stream media continues to use angry and white to describe Zimmerman.  Not true.   They continue to describe Martin as an unarmed black kid just out to get candy.  Not true.  They continue to blame the “Stand Your Ground” statue, which was not even a factor.   Not true.   Here’s a message to the main stream media.  Angry white men with guns aren’t the problem.  The “Stand Your Ground” law is not the problem.  You are the problem.

A BRIDGE TOO FAR

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 13, 1865.  John Wilkes Booth, the assassin, was shot and killed on April 26, 1984.  On May 1, 1865 President Andrew Johnson ordered the Lincoln assassination conspirators tried by a military commission.  The trial began on May 12.  On June 30 the Military Commission determined its verdict and issued sentences.   David E. Herold, Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell and George Atzerodt  were sentenced to be hanged.   Three other people, Samual Mudd, Michael O’Laughlen and Samuel Arnold were sentenced to life terms and Edmund Spangler was sentenced to six years.

On July 7, 1985, Surrat, Herold, Powell and Atzerodt were hanged.

But John Surrat got away.  He was allegedly in Elmira, New York on a spying mission for General Edwin Lee.  He fled to Canada after Lincoln was assassinated.  In September 1865 he went to England and later Italy.  In late 1866 he was captured in Alexandria, Egypt and brought back to the U.S. for trial in civilian court.

The trial began on June 10, 1867 and ended on August 10, 1867 with a hung jury.  The delay resulted in the statute of limitations expiring on everything but a charge of murder.  All charges against him were dropped and he was released from custody in the summer of 1868.  Incredibly Surratt tried to make money on a lecture tour where he admitted his involvement in the plot to kidnap Lincoln, but denied knowledge of the assassination plot.  It was not well received.  He died in 1916.

There is no doubt that if John Surratt had been captured in the spring of 1865 he would have been convicted of something.  He certainly had more involvement than some of the other “conspirators.” 

In this case, it would appear that the real miscarriage of justice was with regard to John Surratt.  It is very hard to believe that he was not heavily involved in the Lincoln Assassination.  It is impossible to justify hanging his mother and sparing him.  But the point is that a fair trial is nearly impossible with this level of public outcry.  At least in the case of Lincoln, a U.S. President had been assassinated and the outrage was legitimate.

 In the case of George Zimmerman the outrage was based on false and misleading information in the main stream media.  There are still people in the main stream media openly rooting for a conviction.  When it became obvious that Second Degree Murder was more than a reach, they pleaded for at least manslaughter.

Now we learn that the DOJ participated in fanning the flames of outrage.  Judicial watch has documents proving that the DOJ sent people to help protest against George Zimmerman.

• April 3 – 12, 2012, CRS spent $1,307.40 in Sanford, FL “to provide technical assistance, conciliation, and onsite mediation during demonstrations planned in Sanford.”

• April 11 – 12, 2012, CRS spent $552.35 in Sanford, FL “to provide technical assistance for the preparation of possible marches and rallies related to the fatal shooting of a 17 year old African American male.”]

The following e-mail from Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board Program Officer Amy Carswel explains this very well:

“Congratulations to our partners, Thomas Battles, Regional Director, and Mildred De Robles, Miami-Dade Coordinator and their co-workers at the U.S. Department of Justice Community Relations Service for their outstanding and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and build bridges of understanding and respect in Sanford, Florida” following a news article in the Orlando Sentinel about the secretive “peacekeepers.”

This is clear evidence that the DOJ was helping to stir up public sentiment against George Zimmerman.  They set up a meeting with the NAACP and elected officials demanding the resignation of the police chief.  Sadly, this was successfull:

Bill Lee was fired as police chief.  The City Manager based that decision on the “escalating divisiveness that has taken hold of the city.”

The reality was that Police Chief Lee was fired for failing to immediately arrest George Zimmerman. 

The initial lack of an arrest following the death of Martin, an unarmed black teenager, by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in February led to protests across the nation and spurred a debate about race and the laws of self-defense. Zimmerman’s father is white and his mother is from Peru

Note that Zimmerman is described as having a white father and a mother from Peru.  By this measure, Barack Obama could be described as having a white mother with a father from Kenya.  They did create a bridge, but it was a far cry from a bridge to undertanding and respect.  Instead it fanned the flames of discontent.  There was a time when brave law enforcement professionals protected people from any angry mob, even when the suspect was obviously guilty.  Now the DOJ is the angry man at the back of the mob egging them on.

The DOJ wanted to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in civilian court in New York because everyone, no matter how despicable, deserves a fair trial.  Perhaps they were hoping for another John Surratt outcome.  But with George Zimmerman, they had zero interest in a fair trial; they were only interested in convicting him of something.  When our DOJ sends in people to fan the flames of outrage, it is quite simply a bridge too far.

Girls will be girls and boys will be boys, except in California.  The difference between boys and girls used to be pretty obvious.  I know there are some animals where gender identification is an issue.  Chickens, for example, create some challenges.  That is why there are professional Chicken Sexers:

It turns out that to most people all chickens, regardless of sex, look pretty much the same.  But getting the sex right really matters.  Male chickens tend to end up on the grill, while female chickens are kept alive to produce eggs.   You can keep a male chicken until the cows come home, because both you and the chicken think it’s a male, but you won’t get any eggs.  Hence, the professional chicken sexer.

To the best of my knowledge, no professional chicken sexer actually asks the chicken for his or her opinion.  They just check out the appropriate physical parts and go from there.  Even if a male chicken is convinced that he is actually a she, the chicken sexer is not impressed.  If it doesn’t fit, you must omit.

I always thought it was relatively easy to tell the difference between male and female humans.  Granted there have been occasions when I saw someone whose physical appearance was more than a little ambiguous.  But I always felt that underneath it all was some significant plumbing equipment variations that would seal the deal.  But, I was wrong.  Here in California our esteemed legislature has passed AB1266.  Now, it turns out, that we can’t actually rely on physical characteristics to determine sex.  Instead, we need to rely on the more modern approach of determining sex by the perceived preference of the individual.  If this seems confusing to you, you are probably from a state that lacks the culture and sophistication of California.

The California legislature has decided that individuals who were inconveniently born with the wrong physical parts can now change their gender simply by announcing that they are now the opposite sex.  This is great.  If you are a boy, you just announce that you are a girl and you can use the girl’s rest rooms, the girl’s locker rooms and even try out for the girl’s basketball team.  I know some teenage boys, not confused about their gender identity that will find this appealing.

If you think the problem is equal for both sexes you are more than a little naïve.  Just do a little research and find out how many women have been arrested for hiding cameras in restrooms to spy on naked men.  I suspect that more than a few women are going to be less than thrilled about this new found freedom.   The good news is that if this law passes, we can expect some really outstanding performances from high school girls in California.  We could even see some new world records here.

For years some foreign countries have sent some rather masculine looking female athletes to the Olympics.  They won a lot of medals but the real girls weren’t all that enthusiastic.  The problem became so severe that the Olympic Committee now has rather extensive testing on the subject.  Following is an article about how this works:

California Democrats are, of course, outraged by this.  Just because a female athlete is six feet tall, two hundred pounds, with no boobs and facial hair is no justification to suspect a problem with gender identity.  If you think you are a girl, you are a girl, regardless of any physical evidence to the contrary.

This is going to create some real challenges for California parents.  What’s a mother (or father) to do?  I mean we all want to be fair and more importantly, legal about this.  How do you find out if your girl is really a boy or vice versa.  Obviously the traditional method of checking out the plumbing fixtures is obsolete. 

Suppose your sixteen-year-old boy, who you just caught looking at porn on your computer, announces that he had decided to be a girl.  He contacts the school principal and declares that he has always thought he was secretly a girl.  By the way, he wants to try out for the girl’s basketball team.  He is six feet tall, which is too short for the boy’s basketball team, but he would be the tallest player on the girl’s team.  Getting to use the girl’s restroom and locker room is just a bonus.

You are pretty convinced that he is lying to you, but can you take the chance?   I mean transgender people have rights.  Do you really want to risk forcing your child to deny his own gender identity?  What if you are wrong about this?

By now we are used to California being the laughing stock of the country.  But with this brilliant move, we could qualify for the coveted  Nobel prize for Stupidity.  If you wonder how other people really feel about this stuff, read the following article from a Nigerian who is sick and tired of Obama lecturing them on moral values:
