The DNC is headed toward Chicago, starting Monday. This brings back memories, all bad, of the 1968 DNC in Chicago. There are reports that up to 100,000 pro-Palestinian protestors are on the way. Odds are the convention center will be surrounded by the same police Kamala Harris wanted to defund. Ironic.

Kamala has started to speak and the results are disastrous. Her plans for the economy are so over the top that CNN noticed. The following report from CNN, just before the DNC, is guaranteed to cause serious heartburn.

I distinctly remember when LBJ realized he was toast. It was when Walter Cronkite turned on him and described the Vietnam War as a quagmire. LBJ was quoted as saying “If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost Middle America.”

For the record, Cronkite was totally wrong about this. This was just after the Tet Offensive and that actually was a major defeat, for the Viet Cong and the NVA. They changed from conducting a guerrilla war to attacking major U.S. installations all over Vietnam. People like Cronkite were shocked that they were able to organize an attack and hit so many places at once. But the reality is that while the U.S. and South Vietnam suffered 12,727 casualties, including 2,600 fatalities the Viet Cong and NVA had a much higher casualty count. Initial estimates were at 60,000 fatalities, out of 85,000 troops and 24,000 weapons captured. That was later revised downward, but by any measurement the Viet Cong and the NVA suffered a humiliating and catastrophic defeat. In addition, the South Vietnamese people openly rejected the call to rebel against the South Vietnamese government.

Sadly, the MSM, including Cronkite, got this 100% wrong. They were wrong about everything. The South Vietnamese people were furious after the Tet Offensive and determined to fight on. General Westmoreland saw an opportunity to defeat the Viet Cong and the NVA and deny any further resurgence. That never happened because of irresponsible reporting by the MSM which ignored the reality of the situation and instead painted the entire Vietnam War as a waste.

For the record, I was stationed in Southeast Asia in 1968 as a Vietnamese Linguist, Airborne Voice Intercept operator. The panic this caused to the Viet Cong and the NVA was beyond obvious. But then we started to see a change. When the communists saw the anti-war demonstrations in the U.S., they decided that if they just hung on a little longer and caused a few more American casualties, the American would give up and quit. That, sadly, is exactly what happened.

This is one reason I gag when I hear someone describe Walter Cronkite as the most trusted news reporter on earth. He was trusted, but that did not make him trustworthy.

But the real point here is that if Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have lost CNN, they have lost the middle part of the Democratic base. This is incredible just hours before the DNC. There are certainly powerful people in the Democratic Party who are in full panic mode. Unlike the usual suspects, they weren’t fooled by the gaslighting campaign conducted by far too many in the MSM. The question is whether they can do anything about it. But they know that if Harris and Walz go into November sustaining these types of attacks from CNN and possibly the Washington Post and the New York Times, Trump will win with a record landslide.

At some point, even those willing to ignore the obvious to justify their support of any Democrat, reach a breaking point. Like the point where the cost of groceries is not just an inconvenience, it is a threat to our way of life.

It is just possible that Chicago is about to become a boom town, in ways few could have even imagined a few days ago.
