BLIND FAITH

When I was in high school one of my friends bluntly told me I was too smart to believe in God.  That unfortunately is an opinion held by a lot of people who consider themselves brilliant.  Most of them are also liberals.  I should disclose that I know some truly brilliant people who are devout Christians.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized it takes a lot of faith to believe there is no God.  One has to believe in things that are mathematically impossible.  In addition, one must ignore the obvious on a daily basis.

Let me give just a couple of examples.  Liberals assume that anyone who does not believe in evolution is an uneducated Neanderthal.  Of course few of them can even explain what they mean by “evolution.”  The term is used to describe a wide range of beliefs.  For example many scientists believe that plants and animals have evolved to some extent.  However, that does not mean that they buy the absurd theory that all of life is the result of a miraculous accident when two amino acids bumped uglies.

Anyone remotely familiar with DNA knows that we are incredibly complex creatures beautifully designed.  Yet while we all share much of our DNA, each of us is uniquely different.  That is why DNA evidence is so effective in identifying criminals.  Yet liberals believe that DNA is the result of just dumb luck. I don’t have enough faith in the impossible to swallow that nonsense.

Scientists are always discovering new scientific laws.  It turns out that everything we see, touch, hear, taste or smell is somehow in perfect balance, yet unique.  Please explain to me how this happened accidentally.  If there is no God, how did things become so organized?  If you believe in the laws of nature, “who wrote the laws?” You can try this one yourself.  Take about a 100 scrabble games and put all the letters in a big bag.  Then shake the bag and spread out the words on the floor in front of you.  Now keep repeating until you come up with the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence.  Forgive me if I don’t wait around for the results.

But perhaps the best proof of God is found within all of us.  Each of us knows that we are a real person.  We may not understand why and we may not understand how but we all know that we exist.  An old college professor was once asked by a student how he could know that he existed.  The college professor smiled and said:  “who asked?”

Unfortunately we have allowed atheistic liberals to dominate our educational system.  If you ask them, it is because they think they are the brightest people on earth.  I have a different opinion.  I actually think the Apostle Paul, who was actually a pretty bright guy, described them accurately long ago in Romans 1:22:

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Or, if you prefer a more modern translation:

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.

The Apostle Paul was right about them then; he is right about them now.  It is long past time we start taking direction from really smart people.  We need to stop listening to people who are so focused on convincing themselves and others of their brilliance that they fail to notice the obvious. We need to start with challenging the ridiculous.  The next time someone tells you that they believe that all of nature evolved as the result of a series of miraculous accidents, ask them to explain mathematically how that is possible.  Don’t hold your breath waiting for a coherent answer; instead you will probably get an arrogant sneer questioning your own intellectual ability.  When that happens, it is good to remember that those who propose to know everything merely prove they know nothing.  Like I said, I just don’t have enough faith in the impossible to be an atheist.

Can’t tell you how many people should read this blog. And don’t we know many people (creatures) that fall into this (brilliant) category. We’ve had many leaders that were apparently really smart, but did really dumb things. List is pretty long.
