OVER?

When Donald Trump challenged the narrative by Christine Ford during a rally, everyone in the media and RINO Republican Senators thought it was a major mistake. They were wrong. It just may have saved Kavanaugh. When Trump listed all the gaps in Ms. Ford’s allegation that was news to a lot of people. No one in the main stream media was reporting any of this. They just called her a credible witness. They criticized him for his tone and for attacking a survivor, but none of them said he had the facts wrong. He brilliantly bypassed the entire media and a lot of people suddenly saw these allegations in a very different light.

Then, just before swearing in Brett Kavanaugh, Trump apologized on behalf of the American people. Again, the MSM was so anxious to attack him that they missed the point. Trump was right, this was disgraceful, and anyone watching this with a smidgen of objectivity knows that. When Trump said Kavanaugh was proven innocent, the media could only respond by saying there was no trial. Exactly!

As soon as Kavanaugh was confirmed, Christine Ford’s attorneys said they didn’t want this investigated any more. They even came out as opposed to Democrats considering impeachment of Kavanaugh. This is a sure sign they are running scared.

The FBI investigation appears to have identified at least the appearance of witness tampering by Monica McLean. She contacted one of the witnesses named by Christine Ford and allegedly pressured her to change her testimony. McLean is a former FBI agent. The attorney who was brought in to represent Ford was Michael R Bromwich, who just happens to be representing someone else you might remember, Andrew McCabe. Coincidence?

We already know that Christine Ford’s allegation was paper thin and the FBI could not collaborate any of it. We know that it was extremely convenient, being released just before Kavanaugh was set to be confirmed. Now we learn that Monica McLean, who apparently helped Christine Ford prepare her letter, appears to have “friends” that include the anti-Trump element in the FBI and the DOJ. These are the same people who allegedly falsified information in obtaining a FISA warrant to justify the Russia Collusion investigation, even though they already knew there was no collusion. Do you think such people would hesitate to fabricate a fake sexual assault case?

While Christine Ford’s legal team is wisely ready to call this a day and move on, that may not be possible. Nancy Pelosi, always counted on for brilliant insight, has filed a FOIA to get the FBI investigation report released. She apparently failed to notice that Diane Feinstein was leading the effort to keep that report suppressed. If there was ANYTHING in that report with the slightest potential to hurt Kavanaugh or help Ford, it would have been leaked by Democrats. That didn’t happen, so it is a pretty good bet that no Democratic Senator who has actually seen that report wants it to see the light of day.

Brett Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court and nothing will change that. But the outburst from Lyndsey Graham and the stunning speech by Susan Collins is evidence that Democrats crossed a line with RINO Republicans. This is more than politics. They were confronted with the sad reality that Democratic Senators are willing to do anything in order to obtain power. Trust, once destroyed, is difficult if not impossible to restore.

AVE MICHAEL

When I wrote “Touchdown” on September 26, 2018, there was concern about celebrating victory before the game was over.

https://scotshonor.com/?p=4243

But since Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed, it is difficult to suppress a pretty wide grin. The backlash against Michael Avanetti is already building. When Susan Collins sited his ridiculous accusation as reason to suspect all the allegations, she was making my point.

This is so bad, even CNN noticed:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/06/politics/democrats-avenatti-swetnick-accusation/index.html

Zerohedge provides more context:

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-06/michael-avenatti-turns-radioactive-liberals-blame-porn-lawyer-kavanaugh-nomination

Some of the allegations levied against Judge Kavanaugh illustrate why the presumption of innocence is so important. I am thinking in particular not of the allegations raised by Professor Ford, but of the allegation that, when he was a teenager, Judge Kavanaugh drugged multiple girls and used their weakened state to facilitate gang rape.

This outlandish allegation was put forth without any credible supporting evidence and simply parroted public statements of others. That such an allegation can find its way into the Supreme Court confirmation process is a stark reminder about why the presumption of innocence is so ingrained in our American consciousness. -Sen. Susan Collins

CNN breaking news editor Kyle Feldscher:

Hard to state how much Avenatti’s entrance into this process hurt the Democratic effort to bring down Kavanaugh’s nomination.

A host of Democratic senators and senior aides told CNN that the allegations from Avenatti’s client gave the GOP an opening to conflate — and dismiss — all the allegations in one broad brush.

“Well you know at some point there were a lot of folks coming forward making all sorts of accusations,” said Sen. Gary Peters, a Michigan Democrat, when asked about the allegations raised by Avenatti and his client. “It turns it into a circus atmosphere and certainly that’s not where we should be.”

Asked if Avenatti was helpful, Peters said: “I think we should have focused on the serious allegations that certainly appeared very credible to me that would be our best course of action.”

Privately, the assessment was far more scathing.

“Democrats and the country would have been better off if Mr. Avenatti spent his time on his Iowa vanity project rather than meddling in Supreme Court fights,” a senior Senate Democratic aide fumed, referring to Avenatti toying with the idea of seeking the Democratic presidential nomination. “His involvement set us back, absolutely.” –CNN

This is so bad that Greg Gutfeld wondered if Avenatti wasn’t a secret Republican operative. Michael Avenatti is finally getting the recognition he deserves and I, for one, am grateful for his efforts.

THE SHOT HEARD ROUND THE WORLD

Democratic hearts were all a twitter with the faint hope that Susan Collins would see the light and cast the deciding vote against Brett Kavanaugh. They waited with breathless anticipation as she walked into the Senate Chamber to announce her decision on live TV. There were cameras and smart phones everywhere. Liberals had trouble breathing. Then, Susan Collins surprised everyone, and I do mean everyone, by giving the speech of her life. It was nothing short of a full throttled endorsement of Brett Kavanaugh and a public indictment of those who opposed him.

In some ways, this was even more powerful than the outburst by Lyndsey Graham because she clearly was focused and in control. It was also a shot out of the blue that no one expected. She did her homework and she systematically destroyed each and every Democratic talking point. She then carefully explained why Christine Ford’s allegations against Brett Kavanaugh could not be collaborated. She eviscerated those demanding that he must be presumed guilty because this is a job interview and not a court of law. It really doesn’t get any better than this.

Democrats totally underestimated Susan Collins and as a result they made a huge mistake. It is impossible to overstate the impact of this. A lot of top Democrats and their allies in the Main Stream Media have to be in a state of shock. They have just realized their worst fear. Not only they did fail in their attempt to defeat Kavanaugh, they were humiliated on National TV. Susan Collins made all those shrieking Democratic Senators and their supporters in the Main Stream Media look like helpless and naïve children.

This reminds me of the time I attended a San Francisco 49ers game against the Philadelphia Eagles on a Monday night in Philadelphia. I love Philly fans because they wear their feelings on their sleeves. Before the game started there was a lot of hooting and hollering about how this “West Coast” team was about to learn what it like to play some real tough guys. By Half-time the 49ers were trouncing the Eagles and Joe Montana was shredding the Philadelphia defense.

The same guys who had been trash talking the 49ers before the game, were now trashing the Eagles. “I knew we couldn’t beat these guys.” By the end of the game the fans practically booed the Eagles off the field. Fortunately I was not wearing my 49er gear, so I was able to remain incognito thus avoiding serious injury. When I got back to my hotel room, I laughed hysterically.

This is a devastating loss to the liberal left. They cannot spin this away. They are the ones who said this was one battle they had to win. They are the ones who promised results. They are the ones who over-stated their case and literally encouraged nationwide protests. They lost. When your team loses, the coach is usually fired and new players are obtained. When you suffer this type of embarrassing lost, everyone is fired.

I definitely think this will suppress Democratic turnout and energize Republicans. If Democrats try and campaign on a promise to impeach Kavanaugh few people will believe them. Red State Democratic Senators who voted against Kavanaugh are likely to find themselves with red faces on election night.

Perhaps John Kennedy said it best. “Victory has a thousand fathers but defeat is an orphan.”

THE AGONY OF DEFEAT

On Sunday, October 7, 1984 I was at O’Hare field on my way home from Bermuda. My wife and I had front row tickets to see the Tigers play in the World Series. We were anxious to see if their opponent would be the Chicago Cubs or the San Diego Padres. When are got off the plane at O’Hare there were Chicago Cubs fans everywhere. It seemed like everyone we saw had some kind of clothing with a Cub logo. Every TV was turned to the Cub game and people held their breath with every pitch. It was the first postseason appearance by the Cubs since 1945. The Cubs had won the first two games, but then lost the next two. This was it. Winner take all, loser go home.

Keep in mind that Cubs fans were more than a little used to disappointment. But in this game Leon Durham hit a two-run homer in the first and Rick Sutcliffe, who was 17-1 during the regular season was on the mound. He only gave up two infield hits through the first five innings. What could possibly go wrong? Surely the curse of “Billy the Goat” had finally been overcome.

True Cub fans should have known better. The Padres scored two runs in the sixth. Then in the seventh inning, the Goat got his revenge. Carmelo Martinez scored the tying run when Tim Flannery hit a sharp ground ball that went under the glove of Leon Durham. By the time the inning was over the Padres led 6 to 3. The San Diego Padres went to the World Series, for the first time ever. The CUBs, well they went home.

By the time we caught our flight, O’Hare had morphed from the happiest place on earth to the temple of doom. All of the Cubs signs and logo disappeared within seconds. In an incredibly short period of time we couldn’t even find anyone who admitted to rooting for the Cubs. I talked to some of the people who had been wearing Cubs gear just a few minutes ago and asked them what happened. They all made similar comments. We should have known better than to get our hopes up in the first place. Some of them had literally brought a change of clothes just in case. I haven’t seen anything like that since, until now. One just needs to look at the whining howls of desperation by liberal Democrats. The look on their faces is remarkably similar to that on those Cubs fans in the 7th inning. They still hold a tiny shred of hope, but deep down they fear the impending doom.

Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed tomorrow and the whole world will realize that Democrats lost, again. This defeat is magnified because of the numerous times Democrats told everyone why they couldn’t afford to lose this one. Why this mistake may last for decades. That is why they promised to stop this, no matter what it takes. We now know that it takes someone or something other than them. Don’t be surprised if the disappointment turns to outrage. Sadly, there are likely to be violent protests from the illogical and uninformed masses. The good news is that outrage will be directed more toward Democrats than Republicans. Yes, Republicans are the evil villains in this script, but Democrats are the people who let them down at the worst possible time.

What are Democrats going to do? Pretend it didn’t matter after all? Or how about doubling down on insanity by campaigning with a promise to impeach Brett Kavanaugh for something? That would be nothing short of mass suicide but it may be the only option that prevents left wing Democratic base from disappearing faster than Cubs fans in 1984.

Watch and enjoy. The agony of defeat is all too real for those on the losing side, but their agony just makes the sweet sweet smell of victory linger even longer.

PRECIOUS MEMORIES

Democrats may have stepped on a mine as a result of their wildly irresponsible behavior during the Kavanaugh hearings. This could result in a monumental dust up with some of the biggest names in the Democratic Party, particularly Kirsten Gillibrand, Richard Blumenthal, Cory Booker, and Kamala Harris stepping in it big time. The liberal left is more than willing to overlook arrogance and corruption. They are not as willing to overlook a public display of stupidity.

Diane Feinstein had that letter from Christine Ford for weeks, but never turned it over to Republicans. She only did that after it leaked in the Washington Post. Everyone assumes that she is the one who leaked it to spring a last-minute surprise on Kavanaugh. However, I watched her reaction when Cruz accused her of leaking the letter and she looked genuinely surprised and angry. My hunch is that either Diane Feinstein or her staff felt that this letter was too convenient and too lacking in detail to be believed. They probably feared it was a plant. In other words, the real reason she sat on it was because she didn’t buy it. Note that Diane Feinstein has never said she totally believes Christine Ford.

Democrats made a huge mistake by delaying Christine Ford’s testimony. This did not help her credibility and it gave Republicans time to investigate. When Republicans decided to let Rachel Mitchell interview her, they were setting her up for a public perjury trap. A trap she stepped into with both feet. The question is not whether she committed perjury, but rather how many times and which one is worth prosecuting.

It is significant to note that the FBI apparently did not bother to interview her. They didn’t need to, Rachel Mitchell did that for them. What they did do was interview the people she referred to, under oath, as having witnessed this event. That alone exposed her to perjury. But they also interviewed other people who are extremely dangerous for Christine Ford. Sometimes, the most dangerous question from a skilled investigator is the one you don’t realize is important. There is no doubt that Christine Ford was highly coached and had training in how to avoid answering specific questions. But there was one question she did answer, and it was a bombshell. It seemed so innocent at the time. The following article in the American Thinker is spot on:

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/10/blasey_ford_facing_perjury_trap.html

Ms. Mitchell: “Have you ever given tips or advise to someone who was looking to take a polygraph test?”

Ms. Ford: “Never

Senator Grassley just released a sworn statement from a former boyfriend stating that Christine Ford coached Monica L. McLean on how to pass a polygraph test. This statement says she “explained in detail what to expect” during the polygraph and how to be “less nervous” about the test. Apparently, Ms. McClean was interviewing for jobs with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office. This is a sworn statement issued under penalty of perjury. Odds are Senator Grassley and others knew about this before Christine Ford testified. I believe this question was carefully planned.

Most people, interviewing for a job with the FBI or the DOJ would not be all that nervous about a polygraph. The people most likely to be nervous are those with something to hide, like a criminal record. We may learn more about Ms. McClean and she may have strong incentive to cooperate with the FBI regarding this issue. She would certainly be very foolish to lie to the FBI about this.

Grassley is demanding the full record of Ms. Ford’s therapy notes and her polygraph exam. He has the authority to subpoena those records. He is not doing that because he believes her, he is doing this because he is building a case for a criminal referral for perjury.

Now combine this with evidence that Dr. Ford wrote academic papers about “self-hypnosis” and how to retrieve important memories and create artificial situations. People know the articles are there but are waiting for permission to publish. One could make the argument that Christine Ford is uniquely qualified to convince herself of something that is simply not true. That sure would explain why the only thing she can remember is Brett Kavanaugh.

At this point, wise Democrats would just want Kavanaugh to be confirmed and move on. But Grassley is furious with what happened, and he isn’t about to move on. No one can predict these things but imagine this. “What if Christine Ford is indicted for perjury and her entire story is exposed as a total fraud.” Suddenly all those Democratic Senators who said: “I believe you” look like idiots.

Polls show that 60% of people want Kavanaugh confirmed. That will rise significantly if people realize that the entire Christine Ford fiasco was a poorly executed lie planted by a left-wing liberal activist now charged with perjury. Suppose this explodes in about two weeks, just before the Mid-term elections. Think that might have some impact on the coveted blue wave?

JUST DESERTS

Democrats were terrified to learn that Rachel Mitchell, a skilled sex crimes prosecutor, had been chosen to question their star witness. I am only surprised that they did not try to interrupt her interview. It was a huge mistake letting her testify in public. Without going into any details, I have some experience as an interviewer/interrogator. What I quickly learned was that the most dangerous interview is the one conducted by someone who does not look dangerous. We all have visions of Tom Cruise in “A Few Good Men” grilling Jack Nicholson. Most skilled attorneys watching this scene laughed out loud at this. Real life is a lot more boring and a lot more dangerous.

I had an extremely good attorney try a case for me in Southern California. The plaintiff was another attorney who was claiming traumatic brain injury and extreme short term memory loss. My attorney was having trouble stringing two sentences together.  He stumbled through his words and got a lot of things wrong. For example, he asked her about her home on Howard Ave. She quickly informed him that she lived on Adams Street, not Howard. He talked about when she got her law license in 1995. She snarled that she had already testified that she has had her law license since 1992. She probably corrected him at least five or six times, when suddenly the old, confused, bumbling attorney disappeared before our eyes and was replaced by a brilliant trial attorney who said: “Wow that is pretty impressive short term memory.” The jury literally laughed out loud. It took them about five minutes to decide they would award her no damages.

This exactly what Rachel Mitchell did to Christine Ford. By politely offering Dr. Ford the chance to provide details regarding her life changing experience, she fell into the trap that captures most liars. She couldn’t remember which version of the lie she told when. People who are telling the truth don’t have this problem. It is quite simple; Dr. Ford told too many different versions of the same event. Then, she made it worse by naming three witnesses, none of who came close to confirming her story. Perhaps the most devastating was her best friend who doesn’t even remember meeting Brett Kavanaugh.

You can read this for yourself:

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/nation-world/republicans-prosecutor-says-brett-kavanaughs-accuser-has-weak-case/65-599638414

Predictably the Washington Post quickly tried to discredit Mitchell:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/01/rachel-mitchell-says-her-kavanaugh-report-is-what-reasonable-prosecutor-would-say-its-not/?utm_term=.2d2d14cd2683

But if you read this, it does not mention a single fact that Ms. Mitchel get wrong. The only complaint is that this was not investigated thoroughly and privately. Bingo. That is the last thing Democrats wanted. This was never about the truth. It was never about justice. It wasn’t about holding Brett Kavanaugh accountable for something he really did. This was and is and always will be nothing more or less than a desperate attempt to delay his confirmation. Democrats warned us that they would do everything and anything to stop Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed to the Supreme Court. This is one of the few promises they intended to keep and the extremely rare case where they were telling us the truth.

We only wait the FBI report to complete the cycle. There is zero change the FBI will determine that Christine Ford’s allegation is credible. They certainly won’t report that the allegation by Ramirez is credible; she has already backed off that herself. The best Democrats can hope for is that the FBI will merely turn over their 302 reports and say nothing. Then, of course, Democrats will interpret this as proof of the need for more investigation. They would like to turn the Kavanaugh investigation into Mueller, Part 2. An investigation into nothing that lasts forever, with no end in sight One that does nothing more or less than to obstruct Donald Trump.

If it was only up to CNN, this might have worked. But it isn’t up to CNN and Democrats are not as smart as they think they are. They did this to themselves by demanding an FBI investigation that no logical person expected to solve anything. What are they going to do now, try to discredit the FBI? Good luck with that.

Sometimes, the most dangerous thing you can do to someone who is arrogant, ignorant and naïve is to give them exactly what they want. Sometimes the result really is “just deserts.”  Never more true than today.

TDM

SOWING THE WIND

Democrats sowed the wind and they are about to reap the whirl wind. They demanded an FBI investigation without realizing that they will be held accountable for the results. They have repeatedly told everyone that only an FBI investigation can be trusted. That makes it almost impossible to discount the results of that investigation when it is finished. Baring some shocking and unexpected development, the FBI is almost certain to interview all the people and they will say the same things they have already said. To some extent, they have no choice, because if they change their story now, they can be charged with perjury. The result is that NONE of the allegations against Kavanaugh will be confirmed. The only thing that will have changed is another delay and Democrats running out of excuses.

The FBI investigation will give wobbly RINO Republicans cover to vote for Kavanaugh. While Democrats have been crowing on TV that everyone must believe Ms. Ford, they are not trying that with Republican Senators. That is because they know that this is not true, and even RINO Republican Senators are not that stupid.

Democrats will make one more attempt to resist the confirmation by claiming that because Kavanaugh told the truth about them that he lacks the temperament to be on the Supreme Court. Some will even argue that because he probably drank too much beer on occasion while in High School that should disqualify him. Few members of congress can even make that argument with a straight face. It is doomed to failure.

Baring a major bombshell, Kavanaugh will be confirmed. It probably won’t even be that close with a least a few Democratic Senators crossing party lines to vote for confirmation. But the effects of this hearing will linger on for a long time.

I listened to a couple of Democratic strategists who think that Democrats will be outraged and will show up in droves to vote in the mid-term elections. They all commented on how rage is a major motivator. They are right about rage being a major motivator, but they missed a few things. One is that if you say it is absolutely necessary for you to win, and then you lose, few people will believe you anymore.  Yes the left will be angry, but at least some of that anger will be directed toward the leaders in the Democratic Party. The other is that Democrats were already outraged, because the Democrats party has been taken over by the liberal left that has always been fueled by outrage. Liberals aren’t happy unless they are unhappy. That is why you see so many liberal activists screaming “shame on you” at anyone who disagrees with them. The most recent victim was Ted Cruz and his wife while out for dinner. That hasn’t changed.

What has changed is that for the first time, in a very long time, it is conservative Republicans who are outraged. When Lyndsey Graham just couldn’t take it anymore and he exploded at  Democrats he struck a chord all across this country:

Boy, you [Democrats] all want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham.

These hearings exposed Democrats in a way that is impossible to ignore. This reminds me of something George W. Bush said during an address on September 21, 2001:

“We’re not deceived by their pretenses to piety. We have seen their kind before. They’re the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history’s unmarked grave of discarded lies.”

Liberal Democrats did not kill Brett Kavanaugh, but they certainly created an environment where he and his family where subject to death threats. They were absolutely willing to destroy him. They are willing to abandon every value except the lust for absolute power.

I believe people will be shocked by the results of this mid-term election. Perhaps I am wrong, but I can literally feel a seething anger among people who have never been that way before. If Republicans fail to get this good man approved, they will feel that anger. But if they do get him confirmed, it will be a great victory and that anger will be directed, where it belongs, to those who simply do not share our values.

TDM

A COONS SKIN CAP

Democrats are very angry that Republican approved Kavanaugh in committee.  It is now in the hands of McConnell. Democrats got Jeff Flake to say that he would withhold his approval of the final vote, subject to an FBI investigation to last no more than one week and “solely with regard to the accusation by Christine Ford.” He just handed McConnell a get out of jail free card. All McConnell needs to do is ask the FBI to investigate the allegation by Christine Ford. They can complete that over the weekend, because there is nothing to investigate. The only thing the FBI will investigate is the allegation by Christine Ford.

They just need to interview the named witnesses, none of whom will verify her story, report that to the Senate and bingo we have a vote. If anything, this is likely to discredit Christine Ford even more since they can demand copies of the polygraph and other documents deliberately being withheld by her attorneys. If they don’t produce them to the FBI, they have a problem and if they do produce them they have a problem. The FBI probably may not even bother to interview people who have furnished signed affidavits because they are already admissible in court.

This will backfire big time on Democrats. There is zero change an FBI investigation will substantiate this allegation. Democrats will have publicly fired their last wad. One of the problems with them demanding an FBI investigation is that once that is done, they have nothing left. Democrats demanded an FBI investigation of Anita Hill and then, when it did not confirm her story, tried to ignore it. That didn’t work then and it won’t work now. This time they have been praising the FBI to high heaven failing to realize that if the FBI does investigate it is game over. Well, thanks to their own stupidity, the FBI will investigate, and yes, it is game over.

Democrats think they just scored a one week delay, but that is because they weren’t paying attention. Just like they are wrong about almost every issue, they are wrong about this. Regardless of what Flake intended, he only gave McConnell a clear path to set a vote for Kavanaugh and get him confirmed. By limiting this both in time and scope, he just makes the tactic of new and exciting allegations worthless. Republicans are offering nothing more than a delay of “no more than one week.” By this time next week, say hello to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

It is clear that the assault by Brett Kavanaugh and Lindsey Graham hurt Democrats a lot more than they will ever admit. They were stunned to be called out for the obvious. Their real problem is that, unlike the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, the accusations against Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are well founded.

In addition, we may have just seen the future leader of Democrats in the Senate and it is not Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris or any other radical left winger. It is Christopher Coons, who seized the day by proving that he, and only he, was capable of negotiating a deal with Republicans. Actually, with one Republican, who will be out of office in just a few weeks. But it is one more Republican than anyone else.

There isn’t anyone on the horizon remotely capable of providing leadership in the Democratic Party. Coons realized that and he is the only Democratic Member of the Judiciary Committee who avoided some of the stench. The de facto leader of Democrats in the Senate is not Chuck Schumer; this will be viewed as a huge defeat for him. It just may be the man wearing the “Coons” skin cap.

TDM

GET THE PICTURE

Christine Ford testified in front of the Senate and it went just about as expected. Democrats didn’t ask her any questions, they didn’t care. Most of them spent their five minutes praising her to high heaven and saying they believe her. The female attorney did a good job of clarifying details in a way that was obviously very fair to Ms. Ford. While some would argue she should have been questioned more strongly, no one can argue that the questions were unfair.

The bottom line is that while she appeared to be credible, there definitely are holes in her story. On several occasions she had to wait for input from her attorney(s) to answer a question. She appeared to be surprised that the delay in the hearing was because she was afraid to fly. She said she didn’t realize that the Senate Judiciary Committee agreed to interview her in California. She couldn’t remember much about the polygraph, except it was very long. She had no additional evidence. She didn’t look spontaneous at all.

Brett Kavanaugh, on the other hand, knocked it out of the park. He was visibly angry; he called out the Democratic Senators for character assassination. He pointed out that they were publicly on the record saying they would do anything and everything to stop him from being confirmed. He was very emotional, at times, in defending his integrity. Other than liberal Democrats, most people will believe him.

I was the litigation manager for a major corporation. I have managed many lawsuits and personally attended a large number of trials. In my job, it was essential for me to learn to evaluate juries. I had times when I was wrong about how a case would play in front of a jury, but I was never wrong with regard to reading how an actual jury was responding to a case. I know from first-hand experience how jurors make their decisions. There is no doubt in my mind that no jury would convict Brett Kavanaugh. It is quite simple, when juries have to make a difficult decision; they always look for facts and evidence. Kavanaugh had the facts and she did not. Even if they believe her, as many will, they will ultimately decide on one factor, none of her named witnesses confirm her story. Kavanaugh, an experienced trial attorney knows this, which is why he said this about 6,000 times. This played out in front of a riveted national audience, in effect the world’s largest jury. The verdict will be for Kavanaugh.

I expect the committee to vote this out tomorrow and I expect the Senate to confirm him next week. RINO Republicans can never be fully trusted, but I think they will stay the course on this one. Lindsey Graham is highly respected by RINOs and his impassioned appeal to his fellow Republicans will not go unnoticed. In the end, it probably won’t be that close. There are likely to be several Democrats who cross over and vote for him.

TDM

TOUCHDOWN

Last week Democrats appeared to have Kavanaugh on the ropes. The Christine Ford allegation, while unsubstantiated was enough to weaken the resolve of the few remaining RINO Republicans. Once again it looked like Republicans were ready to cave. But then something changed. If Ms. Ford had showed up right away, the Senator Judiciary Committee would have probably interviewed her the same way they did everyone else and it would have been a total fiasco. But they blew it. Instead they came up with bizarre reasons for delay and the result was that Republicans had time to take a breath. They realized that Ms. Ford has no facts and that if she is interviewed by a trained female attorney rather than 11 angry white men, she is going to be discredited. Democrats figured that out too, which is why they are howling at the moon.

Then a second accuser surfaced with a story so thin even the New York Times wouldn’t run with it. All of the liberal anchors quickly pushed back against an obviously false narrative. Kavanaugh’s chances started to improve.  Even Lisa Murkowski showed signs of coming on board. Then Michael Avenatti surfaced with an even more absurd accusation and in my opinion he has accidentally pushed Kavanaugh over the finish line.

Julie Swetnick describes at least 10 wild parties where people like her were routinely drugged and raped. No one reported this to the police. No one reported this to their parents. No one reported to a teacher or a friend. Zero, zip, nada. But Ms. Swetnick remembers everything in great detail. Except even she doesn’t remember Brett Kavanaugh actually doing anything. This has less credibility that the 9-11 Truthers or those who think the Apollo Moon landing was staged in a Burbank movie studio. When you combine that with the fact that of all the attorneys in this country, Ms. Swetnick chose Michael Avenatti, well no more information is necessary.

If there was ever any doubt about the credibility of the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, the lethal combination of Julie Swetnick and Michael Avenatti ended all doubt. If Democrats are capable of being embarrassed, they have to be embarrassed. This is just flat out absurd. I believe this will unify people regarding the allegations against Kavanaugh, no one will believe any of them. If you have to resort to something this pathetic, then it is clear you have nothing at all.

This reminds me of a recent football game where a huge defensive tackle grabbed a running back and violently threw him to the ground. What he failed to notice is that he was throwing him over the goal line resulting in a touchdown. That is exactly what Michael Avenatti is doing for Brett Kavanaugh.
