BULLY

The MSM was quick to accuse Donald Trump of racism for daring to criticize Rep. Elijah Cummings. However, almost none of them have bothered to report on the conduct by Cummings that led to this rebuke. Before engaging in the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, perhaps we should consider the reprehensible conduct of Rep. Cummings. The press reported this as “tough questions” for acting Homeland Security Chief Kevin McAleenan. There actually was no question at all. What Cumming engaged in was screaming insults without any basis in facts for his accusations:

McAleenan said he was doing his “level best” to handle the ongoing crisis at the U.S. Border. Cummings exploded with rage and said:

“What does that mean? What does that mean when a child is sitting in their own feces, can’t take a shower? Come on man, what’s that about. None of us would have our children in that position. They are human beings.”

Trump responded by pointing out, accurately, that the congressman was a “brutal bully” who unfairly attacked border agents:

“Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA,” Trump posted.

“Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States,” he continued. “No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!

Trump was more than a little harsh and probably overboard. But so was Cummings.  The real problem here was failure of the MSM or anyone in the Democratic Party to hold Cummings accountable. If Trump had not tweeted about this, the MSM would have gladly ignored it. The double standard is beyond obvious and it is long past time to expose this hypocrisy. Since Trump made this statement there has been a lot of evidence that he is right about Baltimore. But this has been drowned out by screams of racism. That unfortunately is the Democratic response to everything or everyone who dares criticize them. Screams of racism, racism, racism is a poor substitute for actual dialog.

Trump is using the bully pulpit, to criticize people like Cummings who have been using their positions in congress to bully others for a long time. Although the MSM never seems to notice this, the rest of us are very much aware. Everyday Democrats literally accuse Trump of every imaginable crime and the MSM rejoices. CNN anchors have even accused him of treason. None of them have a shred of evidence to support their opinion. The news media never even asks for evidence. Hating Donald Trump is all that is ever required.

So, which is more racist? Criticizing someone who is black or refusing to criticize someone because they are black? In my personal opinion, both are racist, but the second is more destructive. George W. Bush called it the racism of low expectations. Real equality comes when the opportunity for success or failure is the same for everyone.
