I am, temporarily, renaming\u00a0Hawaii as the U.S. Canary Islands.\u00a0 Something\u2019s happening here.\u00a0 The Obama birth certificate issue was dead and buried.\u00a0 Then, as if on cue, the main stream media started demanding that people like John Boehner and other \u201cdeclare\u201d that Obama is a U.S. citizen and \u201cdeclare\u201d that he is a Christian.\u00a0 When both John King and George Stephanopoulos ask the exact same question, this is not a coincidence.\u00a0 Since the main stream media is the publicity arm of the Obama White House, these actions are interesting.<\/p>\n
Part of the problem is the new liberal Democrat who was elected Governor of Hawaii.\u00a0 What were they thinking?\u00a0 This guy is a hard-cord socialist, if not a communist.\u00a0 He immediately shot off his mouth about how he was going to march down to the Department of Health and prove to the world that Obama was really a U.S. citizen.\u00a0 Apparently he thought the prior Governor, a Republican, was withholding documents that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.\u00a0 But the problem was that when he visited the cupboard, the cupboard was bare.\u00a0 Oops.<\/p>\n
But, even that story seems to have died down, so there must be another reason.\u00a0 I suspect the real problem is that several states have passed or are about to pass laws requiring proof of citizenship in order to be put on the Presidential ballot in that state. \u00a0According to the National Conference of State Legislatures the following bills have already been introduced on this subject:<\/p>\n
Arizona’s HB2544, Connecticut’s SB391, Georgia’s HB37, Indiana’s SB114, Maine’s LD34, Missouri’s HB283, Montana’s HB205, Nebraska’s LB654, Oklahoma’s SB91, SB384 and SB540, and Texas; HB295 and HB529.<\/p>\n
There may be many more, but it actually only takes one state.\u00a0 This creates a huge problem for Obama and an even bigger problem for the Democratic Party.\u00a0 Unless the Supreme Court rules these laws unconstitutional, Barack Obama, or anyone else running for President in 2012, is going to have to provide proof that they are a natural born U.S. citizen.\u00a0 What is the Obama administration supposed to do?\u00a0 Are they going to sue Arizona and argue that demanding that someone prove they are a natural born U.S. citizen before being on the ballot is a violation of federal law?\u00a0 That would result in a political firestorm.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the 2012 Presidential campaign is already underway.\u00a0 Republican candidates are lining up and early debates are already scheduled.\u00a0 By this time next year many of the primary elections will already be over and we will be well on our way toward having a nominee in both parties.\u00a0 This creates a huge problem for the Democratic Party.\u00a0 The standard has changed from assuming someone is a natural born U.S. citizen, unless proven otherwise, to requiring the candidate to prove they are a natural born citizen.\u00a0 If Obama wants to run for re-election, he will have to pony up his official birth documents.\u00a0 The only thing we know for sure is that he definitely does not want to do that.<\/p>\n
The Democratic Party cannot afford to wait until January of 2012 to find out whether or not Barack Obama is going to be a candidate for re-election.\u00a0\u00a0 If they are going to replace him, they need to start finding a candidate NOW!\u00a0 Hillary Clinton has been traveling the globe shooting herself in the foot, so I doubt that they will want to just draft her as a candidate.\u00a0 In addition, Bill Clinton is, well, Bill Clinton; who brings with it the good, the bad and the ugly.<\/p>\n
I believe that this media campaign was started in the na\u00efve hope that some major Republican would \u201cdeclare\u201d that Obama is a natural born U.S. citizen, so that Obama could use this \u201cdeclaration\u201d as a substitute for providing real documents.\u00a0 So far, no Republican has been dumb enough to do that.\u00a0 Instead they have said that they have not challenged him on this subject and they consider this issue to be an unnecessary distraction.\u00a0 They are not going to fall on their sword and risk the embarrassment of having Obama trot out real authentic documents.\u00a0 But they also aren\u2019t going to let him off the hook by declaring him to be a natural born citizen.<\/p>\n
The coal miners used to carry canaries down into the mines as an early warning device.\u00a0 Canaries are very vulnerable to gas, so if the canary died the miners knew it was time to go.\u00a0 This time the Canary Islands (Ok\u2026Hawaii) may be providing a warning signal to both Barack Obama and the Democratic Party that an ill wind is developing with the potential to blow him out of office.\u00a0 One thing is sure, we have not heard the end of the Obama birther conspiracy theories and it would be unwise for anyone in either party to ignore this issue.<\/p>\n
