Time Magazine was shocked to discover that 24% of Americans think Obama is a Muslim and less than half, 47%, believe he is a Christian.\u00a0 Of course Time immediately tries to explain how all these people are wrong:<\/em><\/p>\n

But the real problem for Obama and for Time Magazine is that they failed to appreciate the simple truth that values of Islam are diametrically opposed to traditional American values.\u00a0 One can obviously be a Muslim and believe in American values, but Islam and Sharia law, as practiced in much of the Muslim world, is not compatible with our values.\u00a0 Most Americans understand that instinctively.\u00a0 Obviously Obama does not.\u00a0 The following is from his Ramadan Proclamation:<\/em><\/p>\n

These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam\u2019s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The problem is that to Muslims, and apparently President Obama, words like justice, progress, tolerance and dignity of human beings mean very different things in the Muslim world than in America.<\/p>\n

Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Muslim world, justice is Sharia law.\u00a0 This is the same law that was used to justify stoning a young couple to death for alleged adultery.\u00a0 Right now in Saudi Arabia they are deciding whether or not to permanently paralyze someone,\u00a0by severing his spine, as part of his punishment.\u00a0\u00a0 There is no comparisonbetweenthe Muslim definition of justice and our definition of justice.<\/p>\n

Progress<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t pretend to know what Obama meant by Islam advancing progress. \u00a0If you look at the winners of a Nobel prize, in any category, you won\u2019t find very many Muslims.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But, I would give Obama a pass on this, because progress is measured in the eyes of the beholder.<\/p>\n

Tolerance<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how anyone can use the word tolerance in connection with a religion that does not believe in tolerance.\u00a0 Muslims certainly don\u2019t tolerate other religions.\u00a0 They don\u2019t even tolerate gay people and they don\u2019t tolerate personal behavior that is inconsistent with Sharia law.\u00a0 Failing to grow a proper Muslim beard in Afghanistan could get you killed.\u00a0 Infidels (anyone who is not Muslim) are not even allowed to visit holy cities like Mecca.\u00a0\u00a0 It appears to me that tolerance, in the Muslim world, means that everyone else must tolerate Islam.\u00a0 It is the exact opposite of what we mean by tolerance.<\/p>\n

Dignity of All Human Beings<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is hard to believe that Islam is \u00a0advancing the dignity of all human beings.\u00a0 \u00a0That certainly does not apply to women<\/p>\n

Diversity and Racial Equality<\/strong><\/p>\n

If President Obama honestly believes that Islam is a faith known for diversity and racial equality, he does not understand what diversity and racial equality means.\u00a0 Sharia law is not exactly known for celebrating diversity.\u00a0 How can we possibly describe a religion which calls for the extermination of Jews a religion known for racial equality?\u00a0\u00a0 Please!<\/p>\n

If Obama really believes that the values of Islam are compatible with our values, he either doesn\u2019t understand Islam, or he doesn\u2019t understand American values.\u00a0 \u00a0I believe the American people have had it with this type of politically correct moral relativism.\u00a0 They are tired of having Christians constantly put down as narrow minded bigots, while ignoring the complete lack of tolerance by Muslims.\u00a0 We can and should tolerate people who choose to be Muslim.\u00a0\u00a0 But our values are not the values of Islam and tolerance does not mean throwing away our core values in a vain attempt to avoid offending those who are often offended by our very existence.<\/p>\n

George Bush said Muslim was a religion of peace.\u00a0 That obviously is far from true.\u00a0 What he should have said is that most Muslims are peaceful people. \u00a0But Barack Obama has gone one step farther.\u00a0 He has said that our values and the values of Islam are the same.\u00a0 That is why so many people think he is a Muslim.\u00a0 It is also why so many question whether or not he is a Christian.\u00a0 The real problem for Obama is that we do understand him.\u00a0 We just don\u2019t like what we see.<\/p>\n
