http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/nm\/20100727\/wl_nm\/us_iran_ahmadinejad_attack<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\nPredictions are always risky, but I will make one.\u00a0 I believe that Barrack Obama will seriously consider ordering an attack on Iran, by combined U.S. and Israeli forces on or about October 29, 2010.\u00a0 Then there will be a public announcement and a call to national unity, with Obama surrounded by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.\u00a0 The, not so subliminal, message will be that it would be unthinkable for a change of leadership during such a major crisis.<\/p>\n
There is precedence for Democrats making these types of decisions to solve political problems.\u00a0\u00a0 LBJ ordered the unilateral cessation of bombing over North Vietnam on October 31, 1968.\u00a0 At that time it was becoming obvious that the North Vietnamese were on the ropes and ready to quit.\u00a0 I believe that LBJ did this\u00a0as\u00a0a last ditch desperate effort to get Hubert Humphrey elected President. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bill Clinton did this twice.\u00a0 First, when he ordered a 4 day bombing campaign against Iraq on December 14, 1998, just before the start of his impeachment hearing in the House.\u00a0 Predictably some Democratic supporters even suggested \u201cpostponing or cancelling the hearing\u201d because of the national emergency.\u00a0 There was nothing unique about December 1998, with regard to Iraq, other than Clinton\u2019s political problems.\u00a0 The timing of this attack was very convenient for Clinton.\u00a0 I still remember when even Ted Koppel noticed the convenience of the timing, but\u00a0said he would not ask any further questions because that would be \u201cunthinkable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Second, after Clinton was acquitted in February, he launched the air attack on Serbia in March of 1999.\u00a0 Regardless of what anyone thinks about who is right or wrong in the Balkans, no one has ever made a case that this was a threat to our national security.\u00a0 Milosevic was a lot of things, but a threat to the U.S. was not on the list.\u00a0 \u00a0Clinton never even tried to get UN approval and he also did not bother discussing this with congress.\u00a0\u00a0The \u201cwar\u201d in the Balkans was another convenient distraction for a wounded President.<\/p>\n
Obama faces a complete political disaster in November.\u00a0 If something doesn\u2019t happen, Republicans will definitely take over the House and may take over the Senate.\u00a0 Obama knows that if this happens, he will immediately become a weakened lame duck President.\u00a0 He may also literally fear being impeached.\u00a0\u00a0 Desperate times call for desperate measures.\u00a0\u00a0 The economy sucks.\u00a0 Health Care reform is a disaster.\u00a0 The stimulus is not working.\u00a0 The financial reform\u00a0bill isn’t working either.\u00a0 Obama MUST do SOMETHING.\u00a0 Nothing is\u00a0working out domestically, so what about overseas?\u00a0 \u00a0But what are the options?\u00a0\u00a0Afghanistan?…no…not going that well.\u00a0 North Korea?\u00a0 no…they already have a nuclear weapon.\u00a0 Hmm.\u00a0 Iran.\u00a0 “That’s it, Iran.\u00a0 Everyone hates Iran.\u00a0 Even the Republicans will have to back me if I attack Iran!”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Therefore, I predict that the Obama administration is seriously considering an attack on Iran.\u00a0 Just imagine, it’s easy if you try.\u00a0 On the eve of the election President Obama will go on national television to announce an attack on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities and call for national unity during this time of crisis.\u00a0 He will give the speech from the White House, surrounded by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.\u00a0 They may even sing God Bless America again.\u00a0 I feel warm and fuzzy all over<\/p>\n
I recall when Richard Little did an impression of LBJ after his famous speech where he announced he would not run for re-election.\u00a0 LBJ (Little) said:\u00a0 \u201cI come here tonight, because I have no place else to go.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Exactly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
