When I was in high school one of my friends bluntly told me I was too smart to believe in God.\u00a0 That unfortunately is an opinion held by a lot of people who consider themselves brilliant.\u00a0 Most of them are also liberals.\u00a0 I should disclose that I know some truly brilliant people who are devout Christians.<\/p>\n
The more I thought about it, the more I realized it takes a lot of faith to believe there is no God.\u00a0 One has to believe in things that are mathematically impossible.\u00a0 In addition, one must ignore the obvious on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
Let me give just a couple of examples.\u00a0 Liberals assume that anyone who does not believe in evolution is an uneducated Neanderthal.\u00a0 Of course few of them can even explain what they mean by \u201cevolution.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 The term is used to describe a wide range of beliefs.\u00a0 For example many scientists believe that plants and animals have evolved to some extent.\u00a0 However, that does not mean that they buy the absurd theory that all of life is the result of a miraculous accident when two amino acids bumped uglies.<\/p>\n Anyone remotely familiar with DNA knows that we are incredibly complex creatures beautifully designed.\u00a0 Yet while we all share much of our DNA, each of us is uniquely different.\u00a0 That is why DNA evidence is so effective in identifying criminals.\u00a0 Yet liberals believe that DNA is the result of just dumb luck. I don\u2019t have enough faith in the impossible to swallow that nonsense.<\/p>\n Scientists are always discovering new scientific laws.\u00a0 It turns out that everything we see, touch, hear, taste or smell is somehow in perfect balance, yet unique.\u00a0 Please explain to me how this happened accidentally.\u00a0 If there is no God, how did things become so organized?\u00a0 If you believe in the laws of nature, \u201cwho wrote the laws?\u201d<\/strong> You can try this one yourself.\u00a0 Take about a 100 scrabble games and put all the letters in a big bag.\u00a0 Then shake the bag and spread out the words on the floor in front of you.\u00a0 Now keep repeating until you come up with the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence.\u00a0 Forgive me if I don\u2019t wait around for the results.<\/p>\n But perhaps the best proof of God is found within all of us.\u00a0 Each of us knows that we are a real person.\u00a0 We may not understand why and we may not understand how but we all know that we exist.\u00a0 An old college professor was once asked by a student how he could know that he existed.\u00a0 The college professor smiled and said:\u00a0 \u201cwho asked?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Unfortunately we have allowed atheistic liberals to dominate our educational system.\u00a0 If you ask them, it is because they think they are the brightest people on earth.\u00a0 I have a different opinion.\u00a0 I actually think the Apostle Paul, who was actually a pretty bright guy, described them accurately long ago in Romans 1:22:<\/p>\n Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.<\/strong><\/p>\n Or, if you prefer a more modern translation:<\/p>\n Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Apostle Paul was right about them then; he is right about them now.\u00a0 It is long past time we start taking direction from really smart people.\u00a0 We need to stop listening to people who are so focused on convincing themselves and others of their brilliance that they fail to notice the obvious.
