In 1649 Richard Lovelace published a poem titled:\u00a0 \u201cTo Lucasta, Going to the Warres<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong> The last line of this poem is a stark reminder of the importance of honor.<\/p>\n

Yet this inconstancy is such,
\nAs thou too shalt adore;
\nI could not love thee (Dear) so much,
\nLove’d I not honor more.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Watergate burglary could have been written off as much ado about nothing. It was, after all, a third rate burglary. Republicans got caught trying to break into the Democratic National Committee headquarters.\u00a0 Who cares?\u00a0 Does anyone think that Democrats have never tried to spy on Republicans?\u00a0 Please!\u00a0 What made Watergate important was the relentless pursuit by liberal Democrats and the Washington Post.\u00a0 They hated Richard Nixon and they were determined to destroy him.\u00a0 Republicans stood up for Nixon, until it became obvious that Nixon was lying.\u00a0 At that point Republicans chose honor over politics and told Nixon it was time to go.<\/p>\n

That was not an easy decision.\u00a0 Republicans knew that this would be a huge political victory for Democrats.\u00a0 They also knew this would be devastating for the country.\u00a0 They were right. North Vietnam would never had invaded South Vietnam if Richard Nixon was still in office.\u00a0 Take away Watergate and South Vietnam might look a lot like South Korea today.<\/p>\n

When Bill Clinton was impeached Democrats chose politics over honor.\u00a0 After the story first broke several Democratic Senator said that if Bill Clinton lied on national TV they would vote to remove him from office.\u00a0 But at some point, even though Clinton was clearly guilty of perjury, Democrats decided politics trumped honor.\u00a0 Not one single Democratic Senator voted to remove Clinton from office, even though he was clearly guilty of perjury.\u00a0 The only justification was that Clinton just lied about sex so it didn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

There is overwhelming evidence that the Obama administration was involved in a cover-up with regard to Benghazi.\u00a0 The only defense offered by Jay Carney is that the e-mail about Benghazi wasn\u2019t actually about Benghazi.\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t even pass the snicker test.\u00a0 But sadly Democrats are once again choosing politics over honor.<\/p>\n

The ethical decision would be for Democrats to appoint responsible people to the select committee and direct them to focus on the truth.\u00a0 That is the honorable thing to do.\u00a0 Yet there is zero chance that Democrats will do that.\u00a0 If they do participate in the select committee at all it will be primarily to obstruct justice and discredit the committee.<\/p>\n

So far I cannot identify a single Democrat who will stand up for truth and justice over politics?\u00a0 Does one have to sacrifice honor to be a Democrat in congress?\u00a0 Is there really no one?<\/p>\n
