The louder things squeak under pressure the closer they are to the breaking point.\u00a0 Elijah Cummings has been shrieking at Darrell Issa a lot lately and even tried to pull the race card.\u00a0 Then he tried to shut down the Oversight Committee hearings on the IRS scandal.\u00a0 We now know why.\u00a0 Issa has got his hands on e-mails from Cummings to the IRS that show a lot of \u201ccooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now Darrell Issa is accusing Cummings of obstructing the committee\u2019s IRS investigation.<\/p>\n

That is not a minor charge.\u00a0 It is a felony:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe American people deserve to know the full truth. They deserve to know why the ranking member and minority staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform surreptitiously contacted the IRS about an individual organization without informing the majority staff and even failed to disclose the contact after it became an issue during a subcommittee proceeding,\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

John Boehner has been reluctant to establish a select committee and\/or to demand a special prosecutor.\u00a0 His position was that hearings were ongoing and that due process was taking place.\u00a0 Based on his angry press briefing this morning it appears likely that Boehner is ready to take action:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThe frustration is, is that the American people have not been told the truth about what happened at the IRS.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The American people have not been told the truth about what happened in Fast and Furious.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The administration has not told the American people the truth about Benghazi.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been going through all of these hearings, having to hold people in contempt, because they\u2019ve made it impossible to get to the documents.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

They have not been forthcoming.\u00a0 They owe the American people the truth.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And when it comes to Benghazi, we\u2019ve got four Americans who are dead, and their families deserve the truth about what happened.\u00a0 And the administration refuses to tell them the truth.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The main stream media has been downplaying these stories from day one.\u00a0 Republicans have been afraid to up the ante because they were afraid of \u201cwitch hunt\u201d<\/strong> accusations.\u00a0 I believe Republicans were waiting for a smoking gun and Elijah Cummings and his e-mails may have provided them exactly what they need.<\/p>\n

If Boehner calls for a Select Committee this whole sordid affair is going to blow sky high.\u00a0 As they say, \u201cwhat goes around, Cummings around.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 It is about time.<\/p>\n
