Have you ever read the list of references that mean exactly the opposite of what someone thinks? \u00a0\u00a0For example:\u00a0 \u201cNo one could have done better.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0 What they mean is that \u201chaving no one at all would be better than this clown.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0<\/strong> Unfortunately, this applies to our current Congress and specifically the House of Representatives where Republicans have a majority.\u00a0 What difference does it make if you have the majority if you are incapable of doing anything with it?<\/p>\n

I for one am sick and tired of congressional hearings that accomplish nothing.\u00a0 The typical hearing goes like this:<\/p>\n

Each committee member gets about 3 minutes to ask questions.\u00a0 All the Republicans try to ask loaded questions that the person testifying ignores.\u00a0 Direct questions are seldom asked and never answered.\u00a0 The next questioner is a Democrat, who gives a speech praising the Obama administration.<\/p>\n

This is not working.\u00a0 It is clear that both Republican and Democratic members are more worried about grand-standing than they are about asking questions and getting answers.\u00a0 \u00a0Why bother holding a hearing at all if there is no chance of getting any answers?<\/p>\n

This problem could be fixed in about five minutes with the following rules.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 No one testifies before congress without being sworn in.\u00a0 \u00a0Why bother asking questions of someone who is under no obligation to tell the truth. (That includes Hillary Clinton)<\/strong><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Each committee member gets 30 seconds to introduce themselves.\u00a0 That way they can grand-stand and then shut up.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. \u00a0Both parties get together and select one person to ask the questions.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t agree on one person, they each get to choose one and split the time.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 All questions must be questions about the facts.\u00a0 No questions about how someone feels.\u00a0 No gotcha questions.\u00a0 No feel good questions.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t think of a good direct question, shut up.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. \u00a0If the person testifying refuses to answer questions or gives evasive answers, the time of the hearing is automatically extended.\u00a0 No witness is allowed to leave that hearing room without either answering direct questions about the facts or pleading the fifth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If congress did that we wouldn\u2019t be wondering what about the following more than 15 months after the Benghazi attack:<\/p>\n

We would know exactly who did or did not authorize extra security at the Benghazi mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We would know exactly who developed the erroneous talking points arrogantly spouted by Susan Rice on the Sunday talk shows following the attack.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We would know why Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t know any of these things just like we don\u2019t know much about Fast & Furious or the IRS illegal targeting of conservatives.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unless something changes there is zero chance we will learn the answers prior to the 2016 election.\u00a0 Instead we will see more circus act congressional hearings that accomplish nothing.<\/p>\n

If these questions deserve answers, than demand answers.\u00a0 If they don\u2019t deserve answers, then move on and investigate something else.\u00a0 If Congress wants to hold people accountable it has the congressional authority to do exactly that.\u00a0 The question is not what they can do.\u00a0 It is whether or not they are ready, willing and able to do this.\u00a0 So far, sadly, the answer is no.<\/p>\n

No wonder President Obama is so willing to ignore congress. \u00a0Why would he be afraid of these guys?<\/p>\n

Like I said, \u201cnobody could do a better job.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cA least nobody wouldn\u2019t be pretending to be somebody.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
