President Obama ended the Iraq war by declaring war fatigue.\u00a0 There was no pretense of victory or even accomplishment.\u00a0 It just ended because people were sick of it.\u00a0 Then he used the same technique to end the \u201cnecessary war\u201d in Afghanistan.\u00a0 According to Obama all wars must eventually end, so he will declare that one over too.\u00a0 Once again there was no pretense of victory or accomplishment.\u00a0 Last week he declared the war on terror to be over.\u00a0 Obama believes that because Osama bin Laden is dead, that war is over too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He didn\u2019t try to win the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t even try to win the war against terrorism.\u00a0 Instead, he just changed the name.\u00a0 He claimed that the war against terror has been won, because it is no longer possible to have a terrorist attack.\u00a0 As long as he denies defining events as terrorist attacks, there can be no terrorist attacks, so he can claim victory.<\/p>\n
This is how Obama plans to deal with all these scandals.\u00a0 He refuses to consider them scandals.\u00a0 If he doesn\u2019t call them scandals, they can\u2019t actually be scandals.\u00a0 Later, after months of delay, he will declare an end to scandals because everyone has scandal fatigue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This probably would have worked if the scandals were just about money or even sex.\u00a0 This might even have worked if it was just about Benghazi.\u00a0 The news media and the liberal left were already willing to ignore Benghazi.\u00a0 But this time because we have the I.R.S. auditing people for political purposes and we have the DOJ calling reporters criminal co-conspirators.\u00a0 No one likes the I.R.S. and the press is stupid, but not that stupid.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He can and will still lie and pretend that the economy is doing ok.\u00a0 His friends in the media will still chime in with support. He can and will still lie and pretend that our foreign policy is somehow secretly successful.\u00a0 His friends will back him on that too.\u00a0 But no one is pretending that the scandals represent anything resembling success.\u00a0 At best, they are evidence of gross incompetence.\u00a0 At worst?\u00a0 His friends are reduced to saying he is not evil, just stupid.\u00a0 It is really bad when your best defense is that you were merely oblivious.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Yes, we will soon develop scandal fatigue.\u00a0 Obama is right about that.\u00a0 But the country will develop a severe case of Obama fatigue long before that happens.\u00a0 Who knows what will happen with regard to any of these scandals.\u00a0 We are soon to enter the finger pointing stage where politicians scream blame at each other.\u00a0 The Republicans seem to have the upper hand, but they have a long history of botching things up and they could easily snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.\u00a0 It is hard to predict the final outcome.\u00a0 But we do know one thing.\u00a0 We know that Barack Obama is a total failure as a leader.\u00a0 Being oblivious may keep him in office, but it won\u2019t keep him in power.\u00a0 The real question is who or what will replace him.<\/p>\n
