It discourages me to hear conservatives brag about how they love our drones.\u00a0 They think it is wonderful that these neat little drones are really good at killing all those nasty terrorists.\u00a0 There is no doubt that these guys had it coming.\u00a0 It feels so good to eliminate the problem painlessly.\u00a0 Granted a few innocent civilians are also getting killed, but one must expect some collateral damage.\u00a0 It\u2019s doesn\u2019t matter where they are, because our drones are really good.\u00a0 We don\u2019t even bother getting permission from the host country, or anyone else.\u00a0 They can\u2019t stop us anyway.\u00a0 We just spot the target on the neat little camera and bombs away.\u00a0 This is so exciting that the Obama administration tried to create a new combat medal for drone operators, to show their appreciation.\u00a0 Liberals were describing this as the new, modern, better form of warfare.\u00a0 What could possibly go wrong?<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we may have unleashed a serious problem.\u00a0 One obvious problem is that our government may have been seriously considering the use of drones against us.\u00a0 Every day there are more reports of drones being used in the U.S.\u00a0 Currently, these drones aren\u2019t armed they are just used for surveillance.\u00a0 But\u00a0originally drones in places like Afghanistan and Iraq weren\u2019t armed either.\u00a0 Then someone figured out that just attaching a little missile here and there was really cool.\u00a0 One day a drone spotted a terrorist, a button was pushed and: instant results.\u00a0 What a great new concept.\u00a0 We can now kill people almost anywhere without risking any of our own people.\u00a0 At first we only used them on the battlefield.\u00a0 Then we started using them in Pakistan.\u00a0 Now we are using them in places like Yemen and the Sudan.\u00a0 If it wasn\u2019t for Rand Paul, they might even have been used here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This reminds me of the nuclear bomb.\u00a0 It was a great option for Harry S. Truman.\u00a0 He dropped a couple of bombs, two cities were eliminated and World War II was over.\u00a0 But within a short period of time, the Soviet Union also got a bomb.\u00a0 Suddenly nuclear bombs weren\u2019t all that great any more.\u00a0 A nuclear bomb looks a lot less attractive when you are a potential target too.<\/p>\n

I predict the same thing will happen with drones.\u00a0 It won\u2019t be long before our enemies have drones too.\u00a0 According to the following article from National Journal, Iran may already have one:<\/p>\n

Even if they don\u2019t have them yet, they will have them, probably sooner rather than later.\u00a0 And as least one of them will feel no moral restrain in launching one against us.\u00a0 Why would they?\u00a0 We\u2019re the ones who set the standard.<\/p>\n

For whom the drone roams.\u00a0 It roams for you and me.<\/p>\n
