We are running out of gas, and so is the Obama campaign.\u00a0 The recent polls showing an Obama surge are nonsense. \u00a0The only polls that matter, elections, are all trending\u00a0away from Obama.\u00a0 Obama shot his wad with a desperate \u201cHail Mary\u201d media buy that accomplished little.\u00a0 He was just as stupid with his campaign money as he was with taxpayer\u2019s money.\u00a0 He wasted millions on a strategy that didn\u2019t work.\u00a0 He ran out of time, out of ideas and out of money.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Even liberal Democrats eventually get tired of financing a lost cause.<\/p>\n
He tried to spin\u00a0Bain Capital as\u00a0vulture capitalism, but that didn\u2019t work.\u00a0 \u00a0Bain Capital is a major success story.\u00a0 It is pretty unconvincing to criticize someone for being successful.\u00a0 Then he sent Harry Reid out to claim that Romney didn\u2019t pay income tax for ten years.\u00a0 If Obama really wanted to find people who didn\u2019t pay their taxes he should start in his own administration with his Treasury Secretary.\u00a0 In addition, of course, Harry has zero evidence.\u00a0 When Romney told him to either put up or shut up, Reid shut up.\u00a0 Even people like George Stephanopoulos were disgusted with Harry\u2019s great adventure.<\/p>\n
Obama\u2019s \u201cfriends\u201d accused Romney of killing a guy\u2019s wife by shutting down a steel plant and cancelling his health insurance.\u00a0 This would have been a terrible ad even if Romney had actually shut down the plant and even if he had cancelled the guy\u2019s health insurance, since that typically does not cause cancer.\u00a0 But even that wasn\u2019t true. Nothing about the ad was true.\u00a0 It was so bad it was even denounced by the liberal left. \u00a0They at least expect higher quality lies.\u00a0 More recently the White House tried to claim they knew nothing about the false claim, only to have audio tape surface proving the opposite.\u00a0\u00a0 This is nothing short of pathetic.<\/p>\n
This is a classic example of being caught in a lie, trying to lie your way out of a lie, only to get caught lying about lying.\u00a0 It is one thing to lie about an opponent.\u00a0 Everyone expects politicians to lie about each other and to distort the other candidate\u2019s position on issues. \u00a0\u00a0It is something else to tell such a stupid lie.\u00a0 Apparently the Obama campaign still hasn’t noticed that\u00a0the blogosphere is on to them and they don\u2019t miss a thing.<\/p>\n
But ultimately, as bad as this is for Obama, it may not matter.\u00a0 Something else is happening that may be a fatal blow to the Obama re-election campaign.\u00a0 There was a big fire at a refinery in Richmond, CA.\u00a0 Since California has unique requirements for refining gas, only a handful of refineries produce gas legal to sell in California.\u00a0 The damage from this fire will create a shortage of gas in California.\u00a0 Thanks to Obama\u2019s war on coal, a bunch of coal fired power plants are shutting down.\u00a0 That will raise the cost of electricity and increase the demand for natural gas and oil.\u00a0 All that hot weather has ruined a lot of crops, raising the price of ethanol.\u00a0 There also appears to be another international shortage of crude oil.\u00a0 This is starting to look like a perfect storm destined to produce skyrocketing gas and electric costs.<\/p>\n
If this is true, hang on to your hats because the price of gas is going through the roof, faster than you can imagine.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be surprised if Californians start seeing $4.00 gas, on its way to $5.00 without passing \u201cGo\u201d and without collecting $200.\u00a0 If that happens, less than 90 days before the election, it won\u2019t matter what Obama or the liberal left says or how desperately they try to blame George Bush.\u00a0 The weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth by Americans trying to pay for fuel will drown out everything and everyone else.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Someone once asked me how Romney would possibly win California.\u00a0 The answer is $5.00 gas.<\/p>\n
