It’s now official.\u00a0 All of those polls showing that Obama is leading Romney are worthless.\u00a0 Last night every network, including Fox,\u00a0started off their broadcasts with the expectation of a recall election that was too close to call.\u00a0 But to anyone watching the actual results, it was obvious from the start that Scott Walker was winning and he was winning big.\u00a0 What happened was that the media was conducting exit polls and they were predicting results based on those polls.\u00a0 They weren’t even close.<\/p>\n
There are several important lessons to learn from yesterdays recall election in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0 Scott Walker won big.\u00a0 The unions took their best shot at him and missed.\u00a0 He proved that a strong leader can make the difficult decision and not only survive, they can thrive.\u00a0 He is now a superstar in American politics.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0 Obama lost big.\u00a0 His failure to support Tom Barrett hurt himself with the union vote all across the country.\u00a0 Obama forced the unions to recognize\u00a0that with Obama it is always just about him.\u00a0 He didn’t campaign in Wisconsin because it didn’t benefit him.\u00a0 He will pay a high price for this.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0 Bill Clinton was elevated.\u00a0 He reminded everyone that he, not Obama, is the real leader in the Democratic Party.\u00a0 Watch for party leaders to put enormous pressure on Obama to replace Biden with Hillary.\u00a0 Don’t be surprised if:\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Michelle Obama vetoes that or 2.\u00a0 Hillary says no.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0 Unions, particularly public sector unions, lost.\u00a0 Scott Walker\u00a0stared down the public sector unions, in a union state, and he won.\u00a0 Membership in public sector unions has dropped precipitously in Wisconsin during the last year.\u00a0\u00a0 The standard union intimidation tactics no longer work.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0 Don’t expect the liberal left to accept the results of the election.\u00a0 Liberals only believe in Democracy when they get the results they want.\u00a0 Scott Walker is already receiving death threats.\u00a0<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0 The CNN broadcast crew was in a state of shock last night.\u00a0 They actually did a very good job in reporting the results and the significance of the results.\u00a0 I view this as a distancing of themselves from Obama.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0 All those polls, showing a close Presidential race are suspect.\u00a0 We learned that people who hate the main stream media don’t talk to the main stream media.\u00a0 That is why the exit polls were so wrong.\u00a0 The majority of people willing to talk to the CNN folks with clipboards were liberal Democrats who were voting for the recall.\u00a0 That is why CNN and everyone else thought the election was going to be close, until actual results showed that it wasn’t.\u00a0 Every organization that has\u00a0been taking political polls has to rethink their analysis.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The exit polls showed Obama with a small lead over Romney.\u00a0 But when these exit polls are adjusted to reflect the opinion of people who were not interviewed, the result is a toss up with Obama getting less than 50% of the vote.\u00a0 Incumbents polling less than 50% almost always lose elections.\u00a0 The undecideds typically go to the challenger.\u00a0 At best,\u00a0Wisconsin is now a toss-up state for Obama.\u00a0 In reality, Wisconsin should probably be rated as “leaning Republican.”\u00a0 No one wants to admit this because a Republican Presidential candidate hasn’t won in Wisconsin since 1984.\u00a0 But then no one predicted\u00a0Scott Walker either.<\/p>\n
Final analysis.\u00a0 The folks at MSNBC were practically weeping at the results.\u00a0 They know what is coming in November.\u00a0 Wisconsin confirmed their worst fears.\u00a0 Best recommendation:\u00a0 Invest in tissue, liberal Democrats will need lots of it in November.<\/p>\n
