Most of the problems facing this country today would be solved if we just held more people accountable for telling the truth.\u00a0 There was a classic example last night on Crossfire with Chris Matthews.\u00a0 Ron Reagan tried to take a shot at Michele Bachmann.\u00a0 He snarkly said she was several McNuggets short of a Happy Meal.\u00a0 This is a typical liberal attack, always assuming that conservatives are idiots.\u00a0 Why does the media ignore or down play the bitter hatred so often displayed by the liberal left?\u00a0 Rush Limbaugh says he disagrees with Obama\u2019s policies, and he is a hate monger.\u00a0 Ron Reagan says that Michele Bachmann is several chicken McNuggets short of a Happy Meal and this is dismissed as just humorous commentary.<\/p>\n
But Ron Reagan did not stop with the cheap shot.\u00a0 He claimed that in an interview with Glenn Beck, Bachmann said the Census was designed to put people in concentration camps.\u00a0 I wondered about this, so I went back and listened to the actual interview.\u00a0 It was clear that Ron Reagan deliberately misrepresented what Bachmann said.\u00a0 What she really said was that she was concerned that the Census was asking for far more information than seemed reasonable.\u00a0 The question she asked was: \u201cwhere did it stop?\u201d\u00a0 Did the government really need to know our telephone number or what time we left for work?\u00a0 She felt it was an unnecessary intrusion on our privacy.\u00a0 She also pointed out that one question that is not asked is whether or not you are a U.S. citizen.\u00a0 Glenn Beck asked her why gathering this information on the Census was potentially dangerous, and she pointed out that between 1942 and 1947 the U.S. government used Census data to round up Japanese Americans and put them in interment camps, even though the government had promised to never use Census data against citizens.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That is a far cry from claiming that the intent of this Census was to put people into concentration camps.\u00a0 What she did point out, accurately by the way, was that during World War II the government used the Census data for exactly that purpose.<\/p>\n
Ron Reagan either failed to understand what Bachmann said, or he deliberately misrepresented what she said.\u00a0 It caused me to reflect on the obvious.\u00a0 Michael Reagan, Ronald Reagan\u2019s adopted son, inherited his heart.\u00a0 Ron Reagan, his biological son only inherited the rectal cavity.<\/p>\n
