THE SAVAGE BEAST

It is impossible to overstate the significance of events in the Middle East. There are numerous reports that the Saudi Arabia oilfield was struck by numerous cruise missiles fired from Iran. There are also reports that drones from Iran participated in the attack. This is alleged to have damaged 5% of worldwide oil production. There is zero chance this will be ignored.

A wise person running for the DNC nomination would say something like this. “An attack on an oil field by a foreign power would be a very serious event. I encourage the President to verify the facts before making any decision with regard to military action.” I doubt that any of them are that bright.

Instead, they are trying to push Trump into a corner where he cannot respond with military action. That of course, would be the most irresponsible course of action. If we do not handle this now, the cost of handling this in the future will be much higher. Tulsi Gabbard ended any hopes of being a viable candidate when she said Trump is acting like Saudi Arabia’s bitch.

The simple truth is that this is an attack on the world economy. Even Jimmy Carter understood that when he warned Iran that any attempt to interfere with shipping in the Persian Gulf would be considered an act of war.

The President of the United States is negotiating with the world from a position of strength. In the short time since he became President the United States became energy independent. Some of this happened during the Obama presidency, not because of him but in spite of him. He was opposed to fracking and it was fracking that turned this around. Trump not only encouraged fracking, he pushed through the long-delayed oil pipelines.

As a result, Trump can literally tell the world that this is “their” problem. We don’t need oil from Saudi Arabia or any place else. He has already told Saudi Arabia that this is their problem and they need to tell the world that it was Iran who attacked them before he will take any action. Based on his own words; the United States is “locked and loaded.” It is important to understand what this means. The United States has the ability to destroy Iran’s ability to wage war with anyone in a very short period of time. That would include destruction of any capacity to develop nuclear weapons, its oil industry infrastructure and its air defense system. It would not need to resort to nuclear weapons to pull this off. They only thing necessary is the decision to accept the inevitable collateral damage. It is not a question about what the United States military can do; only what it is willing to do.

To put this in perspective, prior to World War II both Churchill and Roosevelt were on record as saying that bombing of civilian populations would be a war crime. Yet, both authorized massive bombing of civilian populations in Germany and Japan. Perhaps Churchill explained this best when he said the most unethical thing he could do was let Hitler win the war. When one is dealing with a real existential threat then no action is considered too extreme. Even the global warming alarmist crowd understands this; they just can’t differentiate between a scientific hoax and a real imminent threat. Threats to destroy oil fields in the Middle East and to disrupt oil shipping in the Persian Gulf are an imminent threat. The impact on the international economy would be both immediate and devastating.

It is important to remember that one of the reasons Japan attacked the United States is that it was running out of oil because of the U.S. led Embargo. One of the reasons Germany lost the Battle of the Bulge was that its tanks ran out of fuel.

I believe the world will not only unite behind Trump, they will soon be demanding action. The only reason they tolerated Iran in the first place was fear and self-preservation. At some point, when it is clear the savage beast is in the process of attacking, you move on from soothing the savage beast to just killing it. No one is going to trust Iran after this. No one, other than candidates running for the DNC nomination, will even pretend that Iran is not a threat to all of us. Now, the only question is what to do about it. We may learn the answer to that sooner than you can imagine.
