GOING TO POT!

The phrase: “The pot calling the kettle black” is a warning to people who accuse others of doing something they themselves do. In effect the pot is mocking the kettle for a little soot when the pot itself is covered in it.

That has never been more true that today. The following article by the AP is proof of two things. One is that Republicans are striking a chord with the American people. Another is that the AP is incapable of reporting facts objectively:

They did quote McConnell accurately:

Only one side was happy to play host to this toxic fringe behavior. Only one side’s leaders are now openly calling for more of it. They haven’t seen enough. They want more. And I’m afraid this is only Phase One of the Meltdown.”

Then the AP drew a ridiculous comparison by saying that: “protestor’s tactics were broadly in line with those used by groups on the left and right during particularly passionate moments in Washington. The confrontational style harkened back to protests by the conservative tea party, which included angry face-offs with lawmakers and a massive Capitol demonstration far larger than last week’s rallies.”

I am glad the AP finally realized that a lot more people showed up for the Tea Party demonstration that the handful of radicals who showed up in Washington last week. But they left out some significant facts. The Tea Party wasn’t pounding on doors and being hauled out of the Senate Chambers for screaming at the top of their lungs. There is no record of the Tea Party blocking traffic, physically assaulting people or setting fires. Instead there are reports that the most remarkable thing about the Tea Party demonstration in Washington was the fact that they cleaned up after themselves and left very little trash. And by the way, those shouting matches were at town halls, where leaders were legitimately confronted in a public forum.

The problem for the liberal left is that there is just so much video of left wing violence and zero video of right wing violence. Remember all those videos of Tea Party mobs harassing Democratic politicians who are out to dinner with their family? Me neither. Remember when that Democratic Senator was attacked by his right wing vicious neighbor? Me neither. Remember when that gunman, outraged by the Tea Party tried to assassinate Democratic Congressmen? Me neither. Remember when that out of control right wing mob blocked traffic, set fires and assaulted police officers? Me neither. Remember when that Republican congressman screamed at supporters to confront Democrats in public places and tell them they are not wanted here? Me neither. Remember when Donald Trump said “If our Opponents bring knife to a fight, we bring a gun?” Wait that was Barack Obama.

This isn’t even a close call. When someone the media considers to be far right commits an act of violence, Republicans immediately condemn the violence with no conditions. When a liberal commits an act of violence, Democrats often blame the victim for bringing this on themselves. Republicans have finally called out Democrats on this and anyone paying attention will quickly figure out who is the pot and who is the kettle. Are you going to believe people like Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon or your lying eyes.
