CHAIN (CHENEY) OF FOOLS

The Obama administration has totally botched the handled of the BP oil spill.  This is so bad that all of the networks are finally starting to challenge the administration.  This is likely to be the lead story on all the networks this evening.  Obama did a nice job reading his TelePrompTer and angrily pointing his finger at BP and all the other evil oil companies.  However, he did nothing to actually fix the problem.  Now we are more than 30 days past the event, oil is starting to pollute our shores and the Obama administration has no answers, has no solutions and can’t even give consistent answers to the most important question:  “Who, exactly, is in charge?”  They don’t even know where to start looking for a solution.

This would have been handled very differently by the Bush administration for one simple reason.  The Bush administration had Dick Cheney.  Dick Cheney was the former CEO of Haliburton, and you can bet your bottom dollar that George Bush would have called him on day one and asked him to find out what was going on.  It would not have taken someone like Cheney long to figure out what was going on and to get in contact with people who would know how to deal with it.  It also wouldn’t have taken long for him to get authorization from George Bush to do whatever it took to fix the problem.  (Of course regardless of what Bush did the msm would have accused him of incompetence)

This is the real problem with the Obama administration.  They don’t have a Dick Cheney.  They don’t have anybody in their administration with experience at solving real world problems.   None of the cabinet members, with the possible exception of Secretary of Defense Gates, demonstrates any leadership skill at all.  Gates is a hard core CIA and military guy, but even he has no real world experience in handing this type of problem.  In addition, he doesn’t appear to be heavily involved.   Instead, they’ve got a bunch of politically correct lawyers frothing at the bit over who they can sue.

Even if you cut them some slack for doing nothing for eight days, by April 29, 2010 it was obvious that this situation was a mega disaster.

If Obama had a lick of sense, which he doesn’t, he would call Dick Cheney and beg for help.  After giving him an earful, Cheney probably would reluctantly accept the assignment.    After all Dick Cheney, unlike Obama, has a long record of putting the country first.

At this point, it is very unlikely that anyone who really understands this stuff is going to volunteer for the job.  The person who takes on this puppy is likely to be faced with a raging out of control Rahm Emmanuel demanding the impossible while failing to grasp the enormity of the challenge.  In all fairness, it is hard to bribe your way out of an oil spill.  In addition, the odds are pretty high that anyone involved is going to get more blame than gratitude.

The Obama administration needs a Cheney.  Instead they have replaced him with a “Chain (Cheney) of Fools.”
